B

In modern times, everybody dreams of success. However, how can we achieve it? Some people believe that good luck is a key to success while others think that success depends on hard work.

Of course, successful people are better at taking advantage of (禾U用)their chances. But if he works little or just waits for help, he would never achieve success. So these personalities―confidence, diligence (勤奋),devotion (奉献),perseverance (坚持)are the main factors (因素)to success.

Confidence is the first key to success. Without self-confidence, people would be unable to get up after a fall. Thus, they would lose many chances for success. Confidence plays a main role in achieving success.

Diligence, another factor, means no idling away time. Hard work makes a fool wise and a poor man rich. It helps us when we are in trouble. If we waste our time now, our life will be a failure (失败)■ If we work hard now, we will be successful in the future.

Devotion is the third key to success. No matter what we are doing, we must be devoted to it. At the same time if we want to do something well, we must love it. Only in this way can we do it best.

Moreover, perseverance is also important. Without perseverance, we are likely to give up in face of difficulties, and we would miss the beautiful scene of success.

In short, success is not something easy to achieve. People who dream of success must improve themselves in these four aspects (方M).

The best known quality of the British is "reserve"(内向,矜持).A reserved person does not talk very much to strangers (陌生人)or show their feelings. You may work with him for years without even knowing where he lives and how many children he has. If they are on a train with a stranger, they may travel many miles without starting a conversation. If a conversation does start, questions like "How old are you?" or even "What is your name?" are not easily asked. But they may be quite happy when a friendly stranger or foreigner breaks the barrier (障石尋)down. Moreover, people of the North and West are much less reserved than those of the South and East. The British are also famous for their English modesty.
