Many people believe that life has smiled to Yang Mi:at the age of 4, she got her first TV play role;at 16, she became a model for a fashion magazine;at 18, she went to her dream college——Beijing Film Academy.
Last year, the 24-year-old actress played bad girl Luo Qingchuan in the time-travelling TV play, Palace. The play became a big success and made Yang very famous.
Could she be any luckier?
Yang doesn’t think luck had anything to do with her success. “Every chance is gained(获得）from the efforts I’ve made, ”said Yang. People now think she’s very hard-working.
She still remembers the time when people gave her the cold eyes. Some treated her with little respect. They didn’t want to help her in her time of need. “I hav to thank them because they gave me the drive to prove myself, ”she said.

My favourite shop is called’ Model World’. It is on the second floor of Happy Plaza, near to Pizza Club. It is open from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. every day.
Model World’ sells all kinds of models. It has model soldiers, cars, boats, airplanes, space shuttles and even dinosaurs. It has models for young children and models for adults (成人). When I was young, I wanted to be a model, so when a national competition was nearby, I asked my parents to take me for an audition(试演) and they agreed, I was selected and told I had potential. They said that for only $900 I could attend a weekend event that a number of the most famous modeling agenies(中介) from around the world would attend. I met with a local modeling agency and the agent required $500 for classes, $500 for a photo shoot(拍摄), and $300 for other fees. My parents only agreed after hours and hours of my begging.

The agency sent me out on a few auditions but with every day I did not receive a call, I grew more disappointed. The final chance came in July after I had decided to focus on commercial modeling. There was an open call(公开挑it) in New York City. We spent hours driving and spent another few hours waiting, only to be told that I was too short, I could hardly stand it.

Years later, I realize that the trip to New York was good as it made me notice I didn't actually love modeling, just the idea of it.1 wanted to be special and I naively(天真地)decided to reach an impossible goal. The experience has made me stronger and that will help me in the future.
