Step IV 2b

Read and explain the instruction to the students.

Ask them to look at the chart.

Then play the recording again. Let them match each place with a reason.

Check the answers.

Step V 2c

Hold a picture of Hawaii and say, I hope to visit Hawaii some day. Get a student to answer using the information in activities 2a and 2b. e.g. I do, too. I like places where the weather is always warm.

Showing the picture of Mexico, ask two students to make a similar conversation.

Do the same with the third place Niagara Falls.

Then ask the students to make conversations in pairs.

After some minutes, get some pairs to say their conversations.

Step VI Grammar Focus

Ask the students to read the sentences together.

Where would you like to visit? I’d like to go somewhere relaxing.

Underline the word relaxing. Ask them to pay attention to the order of somewhere and relaxing and then make similar sentences. (The adjectives usually come before the nouns e.g. an educational vacation, a tiring trip. But in the sentences that are using the word something or somewhere the adjective should be put after the pronouns.

e.g. I’d like to go somewhere fascinating. I’d love to eat something delicious.)

Ask the students to read the sentences together.

Where would you like to visit? I hope to go to France some day.

Underline the words some day and explain the sentence.

(This sentence means I hope to go to France some day, but I’m not sure I will. Maybe I will go there in the future and maybe I won’t.)

Then ask some students to make sentences with one day.

Step VII Summary and Homework

Summarize what the students have learnt and give them some homework.

To remember the grammar focus.

To do some exercises.

1. (1) hope 用于表示实现可能性很大的希望，常用句型为hope to do和hope (that)…, 不能说hope sb to do sth.。e.g. I hope to finish my homework before 6:00. 我希望在六点前完成作业。

　 (2) wish,意为“希望”，“愿望”，所表示的希望大体上是可以实现的，其句型是wish sb. to do sth., 后接从句时多用虚拟语气。e.g.

　　 How he wished for a glass of cold water! 他多想要一杯凉水呀！

　　 We wished that he could come. (我们希望)他能来。

Ask the students to look at the picture. Ask, “What are they doing?”

Let a student read the four sentences to the students.

Tell them they will listen to a conversation talking about going on a vacation. Then play the recording for the first time. Students only listen. Play the recording a second time. Ask them to write the numbers in the blanks.
