　　Basketball is still a young game．It is not yet a hundred years old．A teacher invented it in 1891 so that students could play it indoors even in bad weather．

　　It was a fast, exciting game with much moving and passing of the ball．It was played between two teams．To make a score, the player had to throw the ball into a basket ten feet high above the wall．That's how the game got its name．

　　Now basketball is very popular all over the world．Many people like to watch and play it．
