It's not easy being a teenager- nor is it easy being the parent of a teenager. If your teen has you puzzled and upset, or even refuses to talk to you. the following offers a practical approach to giving your child the space he needs to grow while gently making him know that you'll be still there for him when he needs you.
Offer your help always, but your advice only when asked. If your child is unwilling to discuss a particular topic, don't force him to tell you what's in his mind. Let him attempt to solve things by himself - a sure sign to him that you support his growing independence and the greatest way for him to build self-respect.
Don't invade your teenager's space. Show the same respect for his privacy (隐私)that you would show for any adult relatives. Never read his mail or listen in on personal conversations. And do avoid going into his room to tidy up when he's not at home. Remember a teenager is old enough to maintain his own room.
Mirror only positive (积极的) feelings about physical appearance. Most teenagers are oversensitive about how they look. Although they may be highly critical (批评的) about the way others look or dress, they are often unable to handle such criticism directed toward them. Self-image is very important to teenagers, so keep a cool head about fashions your teen chooses to wear. You should look for ways to support and strengthen any positive comments your child makes about himself.
It may seem like a simple step, but talking to your teen about the risks of drugs (毒品) may help keep your teen drug-free. In fact, teens who learn about the dangers of drugs from their parents are less likely to (可能) try drugs than those who learn nothing at home.
Try to open up the lines of communication with your teen.

If you are familiar with this scene, you'll know how time flies when you are having fun. Now scientists have thought over a reason why this is the case.
Scans(扫描仪)have shown that patterns of activity in the brain 86 according to how we focus on (专心于) a task. When we feel 87 we concentrate(专心于) more on how time is passing. And this makes our brains think the clock is ticking more slowly.
In an experiment carried out by a French laboratory. 12 volunteers watched an image while researchers monitored their brain activity.
The volunteers were told to first concentrate on 88 an image appeared for, then focus on the color of the image, and thirdly, study both duration(持续时间) and color. The results showed that 89 was more active when the volunteers paid attention to more subjects.
It is thought that if the brain is focusing on many aspects of a task, it has to spread its resources, and pays 90 attention to the clock. Therefore, time passes without us really noticing it, and seems to go quickly. If the brain is not so active, it concentrates its 91 energies on monitoring the passing of time. Malls are popular places for Americans to go. Some people spend so much time at malls that they are called mall rats.
People like malls for many reasons. They don't feel any danger around them because malls have police stations or private security guards. Parking is usually free, and the weather inside is always fine. The newest malls have beautiful rest area with waterfalls and large green trees.

The first indoor mall in the United States was built in 1965 in Edina, Minnesota. People loved doing all their shopping in one place. More malls were built all over the country. Some people even get their daily exercise by doing the new sport mall walking. Others go to malls to meet friends. In some malls, people can see a doctor or a dentist and even attend church.
