A very long time ago, the ancient gods held a meeting. At this meeting,　 they decided to create a masterpiece(杰作). There was some discussion as to what kind of masterpiece they wanted to create, but eventually they agreed that it should be the perfect girl. So they created Pandora and gave her the most precious gifts they could think of. They gave her beauty, Intelligence(才智), Wisdom and Skill in all things.

Then they took her to Jupiter(朱庇特), the king of the gods. They asked Jupiter to give her a present too before they sent her down to earth. However, Jupiter did not agree with what the other gods had given Pandora. He gave her what looked like an ordinary box.
