Children love to hear stories;a story told well can communicate morals and important lessons, or afford a medium for your children to explore feelings.Through your storytelling, your child can receive such benefits as follows:
*Defuse Fears:Tell a story that deals with a fear your child is struggling with.Is your child afraid of going to the dentist? Make up a story about a child who bravely goes to the dentist and finds out it really isn’t all that bad. Sometimes children need to see someone else conquer a fear before they believe they can overcome it
*Explore Consequences: The art of storytelling offers a perfect way to act out the kinds of consequences that follow certain actions. You can use the characters in the story to communicate your reasons behind limits and boundaries as you show your child why you make certain decisions.Because the story is about fictional characters, your child may be able to understand it(and the reasoning behind it)
*Stimulate Your Child’s Imagination:Storytelling is a great way to open your child’s imagination.Allow your child to interact with you as you tell stories, making up characters and monsters or obstacles for your characters to face. After a while, you may find yourself listening to a story your child invented instead of telling one yourself.
*Convey moral Expectations: Most fairy tales and nursery rhymes have morals woven into them.Use traditional fairy tales, modern children’s books and your own imagination to convey your morals to your children. Are you concerned that your child is being selfish or unkind to a new neighbor? Tell a story that praises kindness, generosity and inclusiveness. Is your child unwilling to pitch in with chores or helping around the house? A story like The Little Red Hen will help set a good exsmple.
*Have Fun: Your child will always remember the hours you spent talking in silly voices, making up ridiculous characters and laughing about the stories you told.

Shy people ofen avoid situations that force close contract with other people. They worry that something they say or do will make others laugh at them. Some people, however, worry much more than others about being the target of laughter, being frightened. They suffer from an emotional disorder called Gelotophobia.
According to Victor Rubio,an expert on human behavior at the Autonomous Univercity of Madrid, people laugh at others for many different reasons. He says being laughed at causes a fear response in the victim. That fear leads the victim to avoid social situations.Sadly,Gelotophobia limits the way they lead their lives.
Mr.Rubio was among researchers in a huge international study about laughter. The researchers wanted to understand the difference between normal shyness and true Gelotophobia.Another
goal was to measure the fear of being langhed at within different cultures.A team from the univercity of Zurich led 93 researchers from many countries in search of answers. The researchers ques- tioned more than 22.000 people, with their questions provided in 42 languages
Some of the people questioned said they felt unsure of themselves in social situations but hid their feelings.Others said they avoided social situations where they had been laughed at before.People also admitted to different levels of fear that they themselves might be the targets of other people’s laughter. The researchers measured and compared all these reactions.
Fear of being laughed at,being made fun of, is a common emotion. However, the researchers learned that these feelings differed from nation to nation. For example, the study found that people in Turkmenistan and Cambodia are likely to hide insecure feelings when they are around others’laughter, while people in Iruq,Egypt and Jordan who feel they have been victims before they may avoid such situations.People in Finland were the least likely to believe that people laughing in their presence were making fun of them.Only eight and one half percent of Finns said that was ture.In Thailand,howerve,80% of those questioned said they believed they were objects of laughter.
