D "Drink your milk. It's good for you!" You've probably heard that many times, and it's true. Milk has calcium(钙)which is a necessary nutrientfor keeping bones and teeth healthy and strong. The U.S. government even requires milk as part of the National School Lunch Program, saying that students should drink one cup of fat-free or low-fat milk at each meal. Last Thursday, however, a group of doctors asked the government to remove milk from the lunch program. The Physicians Committee for Responsible Medicine says, "Milk is high in sugar, high in fat and high in animal protein. All of them have bad effects on health." The PCRM says there are better and healthier ways to get calcium. For example, they can eat beans and tofu. Orange juice that has calcium added to them also has the nutrient. "The most important reason why parents talk about milk, or want their children to drink it, is that it is going to help build strong bones9" says Dr. Neal Barnard, president of the PCRM. But milk may not be the best way to get the calcium that your body needs. Of course, calcium is important for healthy bones and teeth, but there are other things that affect your bone strength, such as genes, how much vitamin D you take in and getting an hour's worth of exercise every day. Some nutritionists disagree with the idea that milk isn't important. Keri G.ans, a nutritionist, says, "I don't think it is good to take milk away from children, especially among those who are unable to meet their nutrient needs for the day." The U.S. government is studying the problem, but a decision may be a long way off. At the same time, Marion Nestle, a professor at New York University, puts it best, "Milk has been proved to have nutrients. But other foods have the same nutrients. It's just a food. Like other foods, too much might be a problem." 36.( ) What is mainly talked about in the first paragraph? A. The students' health. B. Traditional attitudes towards milk. C. Ways to keep bones and teeth healthy. D. The practice of the U.S. government. 37.( ) The PCRM wanted the government to remove milk from the lunch program because . A. drinking milk is too expensive for many parents in America B. milk cannot really help children build strong bones C. drinking too much milk might harm students' health D. milk provides less calcium than beans and tofu 38.( ) How many factors that affect our bone strength are mentioned in Paragraph 3? A. 2 B. 3 C. 4 D. 5 39.( ) We can infer that Keri Gans would most probably agree that . A. milk alone can almost meet children's nutrient needs for the day B. milk doesn't play an important role in keeping children healthy C. orange juice that has calcium added to it can play the role of milk D. milk shouldn't be removed from the lunch program 40.( ) What is this passage mainly about? A. Why milk is so important. B. How to keep students healthy. C. What students should eat daily. D. Whether students need milk or not. 查看更多

Dear Disney,

Last weekend, the four members of my family spent an enjoyable holiday at the Magic Kingdom - Disneyland. And one event made our visit seem truly magical.

We got to the front of the line at Space Mountain, only to find out that our little daughter Gloria couldn't take her ice-cream on the ride. We were so excited that we all forgot ice-cream was not allowed on the ride.

Gloria broke into tears and we all had no idea what to do. Then Murphy, one of the staff(员工) members, came over. She bent down and told Gloria that she would hold the ice-cream for her and give it to her when she finished the ride. Gloria said, "Promise?" Then she gave Murphy her ice-cream, and she completely enjoyed the ride.

Sure enough, as we walked out the exit, there was Gloria's new friend with "her" ice-cream. Now you and I both know what happened, because we know that an ice-cream won't last twenty minutes on a summer afternoon in Florida. Murphy knew what time we would get off the ride; she went to the nearest shop and bought a brand-new ice-cream thirty seconds before we walked out the exit. Gloria said, "Thank you," but I'm sure she thought it was the same ice-cream.

We know that someone tried hard to make our visit special. Thanks so much for going above and beyond!

The human brain weighs about 1.4 kilograms, but it can hold much more information than most computers. However, there is another difference between humans and computers. Computers don't forget information they are given, but humans often do. No one remembers everything, and luckily we don't usually have to. But everyone can improve their memory if they want to. Here are some suggestions.

◆Try to use new informati6n immediately. For example, if you meet someone who says "Hi! I'm Carlos," don't just say "Hello." Repeat the person's name. Say"___________"

◆Break a big number into smaller parts. For example, it's hard to memorize (记忆) 109244153. But if you break it into three parts--109/244/153—it becomes easier.

◆Write out what you need to remember ever and over again. This will help you keep it in mind longer, especially for memorizing formulas (公式) or facts.

◆Always review information. If you bring what you've learned back to your mind, they become easier to remember. For example, before you go to sleep, it’s a good idea to review the new things you learned that clay.

◆Discuss with a friend. It is always easier to remember things through discussions. You can have a discussion about what's right and what's wrong, and it will lead to the right answer.

◆Never tell yourself that you have a bad memory. You can always do something to help improve your memory. And everyone's memory gets better if they use it often enough.

All of the suggestions are helpful. If you follow them, you are certain to improve your memory.

1.Which should be put in the blank (空格) in Paragraph 2?

A. Hello, Carlos. B. How do you do?

C. Hello, I am Sophia.  D. Glad to meet you!

2.What can help memorize a big number more easily according to the passage?

A. To store it in a computer.

B. To break it into smaller parts.

C. To discuss it with a friend.

D. To review it before you sleep.

3.Which of the following is true according to the passage?

A. Discussing with friends can help you remember things.

B. Always reviewing information can help you fall asleep.

C. Formulas and facts can help you learn about your brain.

D. Human beings can improve their memory by computer.

4.What does the sentence "Never tell yourself that you have a bad memory” mean?

A. You should tell others about your bad memory.

B. You should believe in other people all the time.

C. You should ask others to improve their memory.

D. You should have confidence in your memory ability.
