          Mr and Mrs Chen went to Europe for a holiday. They visited Copenhagen, the capital (首都)of
    Denmark, and stayed there for three days. While they were in Copenhagen, they went to a famous
    park called the Tivoli. Their children bought huge ice creams and enjoyed themselves in the park. 　　
          Mary Chen bought an unusual postcard. There is a picture on the card. In the picture a policeman
    is stopping the traffic. Why is the policeman stopping the traffic? 　
          There is not as much traffic in Copenhagen as in Singapore. Some of the streets are closed to
    vehicles (机动车). They are called"Walking Streets" because people can walk along them safely. 　
          Mary wrote the address of her cousin on the back of the postcard. Then she wrote:

                We arrived at Copenhagen last night. Daddy took us to the Tivoli Park this afternoon. I bought

        Our local Community (社区) Youth Club is a very popular organization with young people in my town. I
    have been a member for four years now and I've taken part in a lot of interesting projects. There include fun
    activities such as holiday camps and discos.We have even made a video. 
        But it isn't all just enjoyment. We have also started doing social work to help people in our neighborhood.
    We have organized activities for small children during the holidays. We have also formed a special support
    group to help young people stop smoking. We are particularly proud of the most recent group we have created.
    It organizes regular visits to the local home for the elderly. This idea came from a school visit to a old people's
    home several days ago. My class spent an afternoon at the home and everyone found the visit very rewarding.

        The old people at the home were excited. They were very talkative (健谈的) and they told us their personal
    stories. During our visit, the home was full of the sound of laughing. We sang songs and played games with
    the old people and bad tea together. But we realized that life wasn't always easy. Some of them were in poor

         Many young people like me have very little contact with elderly people.As a result, we have a lot of wrong
    ideas about them. We have little or no idea of the kind of lives they lead in the homes. after this visit, my friends
    and I decided we should do something to help improve the quality of their lives.
         Since the creation of our visiting group, over twenty volunteers have joined us. Up to now, we have
    organized three evening parties and the most important. Club members regularly visit old people and everyone
    finds the experience rich and rewarding.

    Tom and Simon were Americans. Once they visited Spain. One day they came into a little restaurant for lunch. They did not know Spanish, and the waiter did not know their American English, either.     What to do if you don't feel popular？

    ●Try to take part in activities. Call your friends. Plan to do something. The worst feeling is staying home alone, because it makes you feel even more lonely.

    ●Try to make new friends. Choose friends carefully, not just because you think they're popular. And remember, making good friends takes time. Choosing a popular person to be friends with is okay. If they are nice.　

    ●Be yourself. If you want to become friends with someone who's popular, don't make yourself into someone you are not just to impress that person.

    ●Be nice. Be friendly. Be outgoing. But don't overdo it！Talk to trusted friends if you are feeling really bad. Or you might want to write it down in a diary.

    What to do if you have a problem with your teacher？

    ●Talk to your parents, or another adult who will listen to you and perhaps can help. Talk to your friends. Maybe they have had problems with the same teacher, too.

    ●Don't give the teacher a reason to have problems with you. Do your work, complete your task, attend the class seriously and take notes. Maybe you just need to give the teacher a chance.

    ●Try to find out what the problem is.

    ●Talk to the teacher if you feel comfortable doing this. Don't be nasty（闹别扭的）, but express your concerns（关心）. Listen to the teacher, as well.
