The widespread number of food scandals ( 丑闻) in China is making many people pause before they put their chopsticks in their mouth. They are wondering if the food they are eating is clean, healthy and nutritious or does it contain something harmful that will cause disease?

Most of the food we eat today is processed food( 加工食品). That means the foods we buy in stores and supermarkets, especially packaged foods, are prepared in factories. The chemicals are supposed to be harmless and there are laws that regulate which chemicals can and cannot be used. Unfortunately, some producers do not obey the laws.

He was also taking old buns and using them to make new buns. Most of the buns were sold to schools and eaten by students. . . like you'

Collecting opens new worlds for you, but this is only one of the reasons to collect. Here are some more.
Collecting tells stories. There is a story behind every object (物品) in a collection. There is your story:
the story of when and where you get each object and what it means to you. The objects themselves also
tell stories. If an object is old, it may tell the stories of other people who once owned (拥有) or used it.
If it's new, it can tell you a lot about its own time and place.
Collecting teaches you many things. Historical (历史的) objects teach us about important events, great
heroes, or everyday life in the past. New objects show today's technology (技术) and our way of life.
Plants, animals and stones teach us about nature.
Collecting lets you share your knowledge with others. When you show your collection to your family
or friends, you teach them new and interesting things. Kids all over the world are collectors, so while you're
having fun learning about your collection, you can also make new friends and share your knowledge.

My topic is fashion, and to make my talk more lively, I have brought along five objects. Fashion is important to all of us. Now we are all wearing school uniforms. When we go home, what do we do? We change into other clothes. If we are going out, we like to wear fashionable clothes. So my first object is this blouse. It looks beautiful, doesn't it? It is my most expensive piece of clothing, and I love it. It costs over $ 600. You may say that it is too expensive, but luckily I can pay for it. The more you spend, the better the quality is. So you see, fashion is quite important to me, I admit it.

However, I'm not as fond of fashion as my elder brother. Last summer, my parents took us both to London. They wanted to show us some fashion sights. But my brother Gary did not enjoy the old buildings. He just wanted to spend all his time in the big shopping malls, searching for the coolest pair of trousers! For him, fashion was more important than culture. These are the trousers he bought. Were they worth the cost of a trip to London to buy these? I don't think so. I think it was a waste, of time and money.

We must, however, remember that fashion is a very big business. Changes in fashion can create or lose jobs. As an example, I have brought this blonde wig (假发) to show you. Do you like it'? It belongs to one of my mother's friends. She told me that in the 1960s, it was fashionable for Western women to wear wigs. But a few years later fashions changed and women wore wigs much less often. Then the wig factories closed down and hundreds of workers lost their jobs.

57. What is the writer doing at the moment?

    A. He is selling some fashionable clothes.

    B. He is buying the coolest school uniforms.

    C. He is making a speech to the fellow students.

    D. He is travelling to London with his parents.

58. According to the passage, the author showed all these objects EXCEPT _______.

    A. the blonde wig                 B. the expensive blouse

    C. the cool trousers                D. the school uniform

59. What does the writer want to tell us in the last paragraph?

    A. Wigs were always popular in the past.

    B. People in the east once liked wearing blonde wigs.

    C. Fashion is actually a business.

    D. Business often depends on the production of wigs.
