In 1984, US toy maker Hasbro turned the intelligent(智能的)robots into toys and TV stars. They appeared in China three years later. They are been popular for a long time. Now they are back on screen.
Are you a fan of cool machine toys? Do you like cars and trucks that can change into giant robots? If so, you won’t want to miss the US film Transformer(《变形金刚》).
The story happens millions of years ago. On a planet there are intelligent robots that can think and feel. They are called Autobots(博派) and Decepticons(狂派).
The Autobots are the peace-loving and kind machines. However, the Decepticons are cruel. They have only one goal: to rule the planet themselves. They set out to kill the Sutobots.
A war between the groups of good and evil begins. The Deceptions destroy almost everything and the Autobots have to fight bravely to survive.
Things get worse. Both types of robots travel through time to get energy. Then they find Earth has what they want. So the transformers begin a secret war to control Earth’s energy.

Beijing's battle to correct English-language signs before the 2008 Olympics has started.
By the end of the year, all public "WC" in the city will be called "toilets". In Western countries people
don't use "WC", because it is quite rude in English.
Road signs are also on the list. These signs will be changed into real English words. For example,
"Dong Chang' an Jie" will become "East Chang'an Avenue".
But there is still a question. What to do about menus? Thousands of tourists, athletes and reporters
will visit the city, and most of them can't speak Chinese or understand Chinese characters.
Now linguists (语言学家) are trying hard to translate popular Chinese dishes like "ants climbing the
tree" into good English.
Chinese children will be able to get a taste of adult working life in the Kids City. It will allow children
aged 5 to 10 to try out different jobs after it opens.
The world's first Kids City was opened in Mexico City in 1999. In 2006, Kids City opened its Tokyo
Park in Japan. It became an attraction to kids. Now it will begin in China. It will offer more than 50 jobs,
including pilots, doctors, police officers and lawyers. Inside the city, every kid would get a bank
account (账户) holding special money. And they can only spend the money in the park. They could
earn more money by working in different places.                          (written in 2007)

3. It's about _____ years since the world's first Kids City was opened.
[     ]
A. seven
B. eleven
C. two
D. five
4. What's the Kids City opened for?
[     ]
A. Only to let children have fun.
B. Only to let children make money.
C. To let children find good jobs.
D. To let children get a taste of adult working life.
5. Which of the following is NOT true?
