    邓攸，字伯道，平阳襄陵邓庄人也。七岁丧父，寻丧母及祖母，居丧九年，以孝致称。清和平简，贞正寡欲。初，祖父殷有赐官，敕攸受之。后太守劝攸去王官，欲举为孝廉，攸曰：“先人所赐，不可改也。”尝诣镇军贾混，混以人讼事示攸，使决之。攸不视，曰：“孔子称听讼吾犹人也，必也使无讼乎！”混奇之，以女妻焉。攸历太子洗马、东海王越参军。越钦其为人，转为世子文学、吏部郎。越弟腾为东中郎将，请攸为长史。出为河东太守。
    永嘉末，没于石勒。然勒宿忌诸官长二千石，闻攸在营，驰召，将杀之。攸至门，门干乃攸为郎时干，识攸，攸求纸笔作辞。干候勒和悦，致之。勒重其辞，乃勿杀。勒长史张宾先与攸比舍，重攸名操，因称攸于勒。勒召至幕下，与语，悦之，以为参军，给车马。勒每东西，置攸车营中。勒夜禁火，犯之者死。攸与胡邻毂，胡夜失火烧车。吏按问，胡乃诬攸。攸度不可与争，遂对以弟妇散发温酒为辞。勒赦之。既而胡人深感，自缚诣勒以明攸，而阴遗攸马驴，诸胡莫不叹息宗敬之。
    荀组以为陈郡、汝南太守，愍帝征为尚书左丞、长水校尉，皆不果就，元帝以攸为太子中庶予。时吴郡阙守，人多欲之，帝以授攸。攸载米之郡，俸禄无所受，唯饮吴水而已。时郡中大饥，攸表振贷，未报，乃辄开仓救之。台遣散骑常侍桓彝、虞斐慰劳饥人，观听善不，乃劾攸以擅出谷。俄而有诏原之。攸在郡刑政清明，百姓欢悦，为中兴良守。后称疾去职。郡常有送迎钱数百万，攸去郡，不受一钱。百姓数千人留牵攸船，不得进，攸乃小停，夜中发去。百姓诣台乞留一岁，不听。拜侍中。岁余，转吏部尚书。蔬食弊衣，周急振乏。性谦和，善与人交，宾无贵贱，待之若一，而颇敬媚权贵。
