Do you often like to use disposable(一次性的) chopsticks when eating out? It’s time to drop this habit.
China products(生产) 80 billion pairs of disposable chopsticks every year. “This is enough to cover Tian’anmen Sqaure 363 times,” said Bai Guangxin, chairman of Jilin Forest Industry Group, at the National People’s Congress on March 8.
The government has made some rules to limit(限制)the use of disposable chopsticks. However, there are still many being produced.
“The production of such chopsticks is a heavy burden on national forests,” Bai added. A total of 20 million 20-year-old trees would have to be cut down to make way for this annual production.
Bai called on people to bring their own chopsticks whenever they are eating out. “We first need to bring a change to people’s eating habits and encourage everyone to carry their own chopsticks around.” He also said that there may be technology that can turn wild grass into disposable chopsticks in the future.
1.Are there still many disposable chopsticks being produced ?
____________________________________________________________________________
2.How many pairs of disposable chopsticks does China product every year?
____________________________________________________________________________
3.What can turn into disposable chopsticks in the future?
____________________________________________________________________________
阅读短文,并完成下列要求:
1.在时间轴上标出时间点:1972.
2.在图中画出中国近几年来向日本出口筷子的曲线(或折线)图.
3.在图中的方框处填入筷子出口的数量单位.
China started to export chopsticks to Japan in 1972. By 1975, the number of items exported yearly had risen to 3,000,000, but for the next five years this figure did not increase. In 1985, however, demand began to rise once more and the present figure stands at over, 4,000,000. This means there will be more jobs offered in China. But on the other hand, more trees will have to be cut down in order to make chopsticks. So I think the Chinese government should do something to reduce the number of chopsticks exported to Japan.

For several years, Americans have enjoyed teleshopping-watching TV and buying things by phone. Now teleshopping is starting in Europe(欧洲). In a number of European countries, people can turn on their TVs and shop for clothes, jewelry, food, toys, and many other things.
Teleshopping is becoming popular in Sweden, for example. The biggest Swedish company sells different kinds of things on TV in 15 European countries, and in one year it made $ 100 million. In France there are two teleshopping channels, and the French spend about $ 20 million a year to buy things through those channels.
In Germany, until last year teleshopping was only possible on one channel for 1 hour every day. Then the government allowed(允许) more teleshopping. Other channels can open for telebusiness, including(包括) the largest American teleshopping company and a 24-hour teleshopping company. German businesses are hoping this new teleshopping will help them sell more things.
Some people like teleshopping because it allows them to do their shopping without leaving their homes. With all the problems of traffic in the cities, this is an important reason. But at the same time, other Europeans do not like this new way of shopping. They call teleshopping “junk(垃圾) on the air”. Many Europeans usually worry about the quality(质量) of the things for sale on TV. Good quality is important to them, and they believe they cannot be sure about the quality of the things on TV.
The need for high quality means that European teleshopping companies will have to be different from the American companies. They will have to be more careful about the quality of the things they sell. They will also have to work harder to sell things that the buyers cannot touch or see in person.
