题目列表(包括答案和解析)

Do you like dogs? Do you know the following things about dogs?

The first pet dog

Dogs are meat-eating animals. They belonged to the family of wolves (狼) a long time ago. About 15,000 years ago, people started keeping wolves for hunting (狩猎). Over the time, the wolves began to look like dogs and they became people’s pets.

What a dog looks like

Dogs come in different sizes, colors and shapes, but they’re the same in some ways. All kinds of dogs have a set of forty-two strong teeth for eating. They have sharp claws (利爪) at the end of their feet for digging up soil (挖土) and holding onto the ground when they walk. They have very good eyesight(视力). They also have high ability (能力) to hear and smell.

How a dog grows

A mother dog gives birth to one to twelve babies at a time. New-born baby dogs cannot see or hear until they are two weeks old. The mother dog gives the baby dogs milk. When they are four weeks old, they start eating soft food. When they’re eight weeks, the baby dogs have very strong legs and they can go for long walks.

How to read a dog’s feelings

Dogs act differently when they have different feelings. When a dog is angry, it opens its mouth and shows its teeth. When a dog is frightened, it lowers its ears and holds its tail (尾巴) between its legs. A happy dog always wags (摇摆) its tail.

Five Things to Do Before You Are 18

Are you bored with your daily routine? Here are some things you should try before you are 18, because after that it’s too late.

Write your family tree

When you are young, get to know all the older people in your family and find out as much as you can about when they were young. Draw a family tree and make notes about each person so that you won’t forget.

Learn to swim

Seriously, this is so important that it could save your life. If you can’t swim well, you won’t be able to do water sports like waterskiing, surfing and diving. Even taking a boat trip will be dangerous for you. Make sure you do it.

Try at least one kind of team sport

Being a good team player is an important skill in life. You can’t just think of yourself, but have to work well with other people. Other advantages of team sports like basketball, football and baseball are that they keep you fit and healthy, and they are also great fun. Teams usually have a good social life too---you’ll go to lots of parties and make many friends.

Collect something

One of the best hobbies for under-18s is collecting things. You could collect rare Chinese stamps, or you could collect things that make you remember what you have done, like cinema tickets for films you have seen or emails from friends. The best way to collect is to have a special album to put your collection in and to write what each thing means to you. That way you won’t forget.

Camp out in the garden

If you don’t have your own garden, find a friend who has one! You will need: two or three friends, a small tent, sleeping bags and warm blankets. Take a lot of food and drink with you into the tent and play games until it gets dark. When it gets dark, tell ghost stories, and at midnight, eat all your sweets. You will need a torch or else you won’t be able to see all your sweets, and it might get too scary.

1.Draw a family tree and________ about each person so that you won’t forget.

A.know the name                                            B.write down some notes

C.find the birthday                                           D.ask the older for help

     Picky, Picky
Scientists have no idea exactly why birds choose certain objects to build their nests. But scientists know
that the main reason birds build nests is to keep their babies safe, warm and healthy. Baby birds grow faster
and are healthier when they are warm. They also learn to fly and leave the nests sooner than birds without
warm homes.
     What A Yarn (纱)
Yarn is big on an oriole's shopping list during nest building. Scientists are still trying to work out why
so many birds choose white yarn over other colors for nest building. Scientists think that the white objects
remind birds of cotton fluff (绒毛) they find in the wild.
     Do It Naturally
Even though birds can help us recycle some of our junk by using it to build nests, they also need to use
lots of natural things. Long grass, dried sticks, spider's silk and mud are some of the natural ingredients that
are good for nests, too.
You can make a collection box of things to leave for birds so they can help themselves. Hang a small
plastic box with holes on a tree branch. Fill the box freely with nest building goodies. Hang the box on a tree
and watch birds climb on board to pick through the junk to find their treasures.
Warning: Don't let the birds turn into a tasty treat. Keep your bird station away from places where cats
hang out.
     For The Birds! Stop!
Don't throw all that garbage out! Give some to the birds. Look and see how your old junk can help
beautify and warm a bird's new home.
1. The baby birds with warm homes are able to _____.
A. choose right objects
B. leave the nests sooner
C. build good nests
D. learn to fly higher
2. What can people make for birds to build nests?
A. Holes on the tree.
B. Food out of the rubbish.
C. A warning board.
D. A collection box of things.
3. What can we learn from the passage?
A. Birds build nests to store things.
B. Birds regard white objects as cotton.
C. Birds and humans can help each other.
D. Birds and cats fight against each other.
