Recently, a three-part BBC documentary Are Our Kids Tough Enough? Chinese School has become a hot topic. The TV documentary followed five Chinese teachers who spent a month working with 50 teenagers, aged from 13 to 14 at Bohunt School in the southern English county of Hampshire. On May 23, Shenzhen introduced tough new rules in order to discourage the “Chinese style of crossing the road”. “Chinese people cross roads without thinking about traffic lights, so long as they are part of a crowd,” said a post on Sina Weibo.
