Mandeep is from a poor family in India. She used to get up at five every day. She worked on the farm all day. (Her parents couldn’t afford to send her to school,) so she couldn’t read or write.
One day, a UNICEF worker went to her village. (He said it was important for children to receive education.) He gave her some books.
Now , Mandeep can go to school every day. And she can read and write. (She is very grateful to UNICEF.) She hopes to become a teacher when she grows up so that she can help even more people.
