    York and New Jersey. The bridge changed both states in major ways.

    Before the bridge was built,people crossed the Hudson River by boat. The trip was slow. Only a few thousand people crossed the river each day.

    The new bridge had eight lanes (线路) .Workers in New Jersey could now drive to jobs in New York. New factories opened in New Jersey too. More New Yorkers found work in New Jersey. New towns sprang up in both states.

    The George Washington Bridge is very important.  It changed the way of life for people in two states. It helped create new towns and new jobs.
