    6．Interesting Greeting Customs in Different Countries
    To build a good relationship with foreigners，you should know the customs of the country you visit．This passage will help you earn the trust of the natives．
    Japan
    Japanese people follow both customs of shaking hands and bowing when greeting．You need to respond as the host does，either by bowing or shaking hands．This is different form the Ukrainian style of greeting．There，you should be ready to present your right cheek，on which three kisses will be planted by the natives，along with a hug．
    China
    Chinese people accept the western handshake，but with a lighter grip （握）．Looking straight into the eyes while greeting is considered rude in China； it is better to receive the greeting with lowered eyes as a mark of respect．Moreover，in Chinese culture a new friend is greeted with applause．It is interesting that Tibetans show their tongue to people as a gesture of politeness．This means they have no ill thoughts about them．
    The Arabic World
    In some Arabic countries，speaking to the women is not allowed for a foreigner，let alone any other body contact．Men may greet each other with a hug and kiss on both cheeks，followed by a lasting handshake．As a non-Arabic woman，you must wait for the Arabic men to offer their hand to shake，as it is not common in Arabia to shake hands with women．
    Russia
    Russians prefer a firm handshake followed by a bear hug，especially to a known acquaintance．Even kissing the cheeks of both men and women are popular，but only for Russian men．Similarly in Europe and Latin America，kissing the cheeks is also a popular custom．But for Latin Americans，kissing the top of a lady's hand after a soft handshake is more popular．Don't take the hand before the complete handshake is done，as this will be taken as a rejection．
