Have you ever been in a meeting while, someone was making a speech and realized suddenly that your mind was a million miles away? You probably felt sorry and made up your mind to pay attention and ever have been told that daydreaming is a waste of time.
“On the contrary,” says L. Giambra, an expert in psychology, “daydreaming is quite necessary. Without it, the mind couldn't get done all the thinking it has to do during a normal day: You can't possibly do all your thinking with a conscious mind. Instead, your unconscious mind is working out problems all the time. Daydreaming then may be one way that the conscious and unconscious states of mind have silent dialogues.”
Early experts in psychology paid no attention to the importance of daydreams or even considered them harmful. At one time daydreaming was thought to be a cause of some mental illnesses. They did not have a better understanding of daydreams until the late 1980s. Eric Klinger, a professor of psychology, is the writer of the book Daydreaming. Klinger says, “We know now that daydreaming is one of the main ways that we organize our lives, learn from our experiences, and plan for our futures: Daydreams really are a window on the things we fear and the things we long for in life.” Daydreams are usually very simple and direct, quite unlike sleep dreams, which may be hard to understand. It's easier to gain a deep understanding of your life by paying close attention to your day dreams than by trying to examine your sleep dreams carefully. Day dreams help you recognize the difficult situations in your life and find out a possible way of dealing with them. Daydreams cannot be predicted, they move off in unexpected direction which may be creative and full of ideas. For many famous artists and scientists, daydreams were and are a main source of creative energy.

What is the hottest topic at your school recently? In Hangzhou Yongjin Middle School, it’ s money.
The school held an activity called “making money” last weekend. About 200 Junior 1 and Junior 2 students were divided into 30 teams. They went out ___________________________. What did they choose to sell? Some sold newspapers;some chose bottled water;some sold environmentally friendly shopping bags and bamboo baskets.
Hu Qing’ s team decided to sell some useful books in front of the Children Activity Center. They thought parents would like to buy the books for their children. But unfortunately, they met urban management officers. The officers asked them to leave. “We played hide-and-seek with the offices for the whole morning,” said Hu. “Finally we had to give up.”
Wang Bing and her team sold ice cream in a square. They didn’ t meet any officers. But few people were interested in what they were selling. The team then put up a board saying “For Country Kids”. It worked. More people came to their stall(小摊). A foreigner even gave them 100 Yuan. “He didn’ t want any change. He said he wanted to help the children,” said Wang. “We were touched.” Later that day they gave the 100 Yuan and more to the “Project Hope” office.
Meng Zhaoxiang and his team were luckier. They sold all their cakes in four hours, spending 39.5 Yuan and getting back 80 Yuan. They made 40.5 Yuan. “It was not easy to make the money,” said Meng. “Some people just looked. Others just tasted but didn’ t buy. Now I know how hard it is for our parents to make money we need to lead happy lives. ”

You can't avoid a conflict at work. If you can avoid a conflict, it means you will win what you want regardless of what the other person wants. Since the potential issue has not been removed, it will simply reappear later. Here are the necessary steps to effectively get rid of conflicts at work.
★ Realize that some conflicts are unavoidable at work. On numerous occasions, conflict and disagreement are likely to happen. But when a conflict happens it's not the end of the world. On the contrary, it can be the beginning of an interesting learning process. Conflicts mean that people care enough to disagree strongly. The trick is not to allow the conflict to go on forever.
★ Handle conflicts sooner rather than later. Solve a conflict when it starts, as it only gets worse with time going by. Conflicts at work arise not from something that was said, but from something that wasn't said! Everyone's waiting for the other to admit he's wrong and gets more unpleasant after the conflict has lasted a while. It's essential to interrupt the "waiting game" before it gets to that point.
★ Ask nicely. If somebody has done something that made you angry, or if you don't understand their viewpoint or actions, simply asking nicely about it can make a world of difference.  Never assume that people do what they do to annoy or hurt you. Sometimes there's a good reason why that person does what he or she does, and a potential conflict disappear right there. Do remember to make an inquiry, not an accusation of any sort.
★ Appreciate. Praise the other part in the conflict. Tell them why it's worth it to you to solve the conflict. This can be difficult as few people find it easy to praise and appreciate a person they disagree strongly with, but it's a great way to move forward.

[1] Teenagers who spend hours in front of the television may have a poorer diet as young adults, a new study suggests. It’s not clear, researchers say, whether television itself is the reason, but it is possible that things like snacking(吃零食) in front of the TV or seeing ads for junk food influence young people’s diets.
[2] The study included nearly 1,400 high school students. It showed that those who watched TV for five hours or more everyday had less-healthy diets than their students five years later. As a group, they ate fewer fruits and vegetables, but ate more fast food, snack products and fried foods.
[3] "We’re not able to tell why," lead researcher Dr. Daheia J. Barr-Anderson said. "But we do have some speculations." People who spend a lot of time in front of the TV, especially teenagers, may have more snacks. It may influence their long-term diet quality. It’s also possible that TV ads for fast food, sweets and snacks make teenagers eat more of those foods. TV time might also replace exercise time for some kids.
[4] The researchers found a clear relationship between TV time during high school and diet quality of the young. The heaviest TV viewers              , and those who’d watched fewer than two hours everyday had the most fruits, vegetables.
[5] According to Barr-Anderson, the findings support experts’ advice that children should watch no more than two hours of television everyday. "Parents should cut the TV time," Barr-Anderson said. She advised that parents set a good example by eating right, being physically active and controlling their own TV time.

[1]Today, millions of people want to learn or improve their English but it is difficult to find the best method. Is it better to study in Britain or America or to study in your own country?
[2]The advantages of going to Britain seem obvious.Firstly, you will be able to listen to the language all the time you are in the country. You will be surrounded completely by the language wherever you go.Another advantage is that you have to speak the language if you are with other people. In Italy,it is always possible, in the class, to speak Italian if you want to and the learning is slower.
[3]On the other hand,              staying at home to study. You don’t have to make big changes to your life.As well as this,it is also a lot cheaper than going to Britain but it is never possible to achieve the results of living in the UK.If you have a good teacher in Italy,I think you can learn in a more concentrated way than being in Britain without going to a school.
[4]So,in conclusion,I think that if you have enough time and enough money, the best choice is to spend some time in the UK.This is simply not possible for most people, so being here in Italy is the only(可行的)viable option. The most important thing to do in this situation is to maximise your opportunities:to speak only English in class and to try to use English whenever possible outside the class.

Do you have a friend who is upset about his or her parent’s drinking? You want to do something to help, but what? Your friend may not talk about this with you, but you can still be a good friend. One out of four children lives with at least one adult who has alcoholism, so your friend is not alone.
●Be a good listener. Your friend may need someone to talk to. Listen to your friend and suggest that she or he talk to a trusted adult in addition to talking to you .You can offer a good listening ear, but sometimes an adult is needed for more serious things. Maybe you can suggest a caring adult for your friend to talk to, such as a teacher, a neighbor, or a grandparent. He will listen and support your friend, and he will not hurt your friend or put your friend down.
●Don’t spread gossip(闲话) about your friend’s family. Its okay to tell your parents or another trusted adult what is going on, but respect your friends right by not telling other kids in your class.
●Ask your parents if your friend ___________your house, and then invite your friend over for enjoyable activities or to do homework together. Sometimes your friend might just need to get away and have fun being a kid.
●Don’t ride in a car when a friend’s parent has been drinking if you can avoid it. It is not safe. Call your parents, walk, or try to get a ride with an adult you know who has not been drinking. If you must get in the car with a drinking driver, sit in the middle of the back seat with your seat belt fastened. Lock your doors and try to stay calm.

[1]It may help you to know that there is no such thing as a perfect speech. At some point in every speech, every speaker says something that is not understood exactly as he has planned. Fortunately, such moments are usually not obvious to the listeners. Why? Because the listeners do not know what the speaker plans to say. They hear only what the speaker does say.If you lose your pace for a moment, wrongly change the order of a couple of sentences, or forget to pause at a certain point, no one will notice your mistake. When such moments occur, don't_______.Just continue as if nothing happened.
[2]Even if you do make an obvious mistake during a speech, that doesn't really matter. If you have ever listened to Martin Luther King's famous speech—” I Have a Dream", you may notice that he stumbles (结巴) over his words twice during the speech. Most likely, however, you don't remember. Why? Because you were concentrating your attention on his message rather than on his way of speech-making.
[3]People care a lot about making a mistake in a speech because they regard speech-making as a kind of performance rather than as an act of communication. They feel the listeners are like judges in an ice-skating competition. But, in fact, the listeners are not looking for a perfect performer. They are looking for a well-thought-out speech that expresses the speaker's ideas clearly and directly.Sometimes a mistake or two can actually increase a speaker's attractiveness by making him more human.
[4]As you work on your speech, don't worry about being imperfect.Once you free your mind of this, you will find it much easier to give your speech freely.
