(1)Do you feel your life is dependent on fate or luck? Many people do and there are crazy superstitions(迷信)surrounding what you should and shouldn’t on New Year’s Day to get some luck for yourself. And we’re going to need it,because everyone has heard that 2012 may be the end of the World。

(2)Imagine being in a car.The driver decides where to go and how fast to get there. The passenger goes along for the ride.Do you want to      or the passenger in your own life? Do you want to hide and hope that 2012 really isn’t the end of the world,or do you want to design a new beginning?

(3) This isn’t the first prediction of the end of the world and it won’t be the last. The year 2000 was supposed to destroy computer technology, bringing the world to a stopAll this is futurology---the study of the end of the world or the“world to come”---which I think, personally, is a better translation.

(4) Translation is also the problem behind the idea that the Mayans(玛雅人)said the world would end in 2012.The troub1e with translation from the ancient Mayans is that there are many words to choose from and negative words sell a lot more magazines, newspapers and TV showsThere’s a phrase in journalism in the West。“If it bleeds,it leads。” In other words, bad news sells better.

(5)To me,endings mean beginnings and new chances。The reality we’re suffering through in the world fight now needs a change.Wars, the failing economy, global warming---the list goes on and on.People tend to change through insight(洞察力)or crisis and there are enough of both right now to lead in a completely new age filled with peace, economic well-being,health and joy both globally and personally. But,we can’t just wait for it to happen. So create goals this year that arc positive, future focused, specific and measurable. We’re all the drivers in the world to come.

Have you ever picked a job based on the fact that you were good at it but later found it made you feel very uncomfortable over time? When you select your career, there's a whole lot more to it than assessing your skills and matching them with a particular position. If you ignore your personality, it will hurt you long-term regardless of your skills or the job's pay. There are several areas of your personality that you need to consider to help you find a good job. Here are a few of those main areas;

1) Do you prefer working alone or with other people?

There are isolating(使孤立)jobs that will drive an outgoing person crazy and also interactive jobs that will make a shy person uneasy. Most people are not extremes in either direction but do have a tendency that they prefer. There are also positions that are sometimes a combination of the two, which may be best for someone in the middle who adapts easily to either situation.

2) How do you handle change?

Most jobs these days have some elements of change to them, but some are more than others. If you need stability in your life, you may need a job where the changes don't happen so often. Other people would be bored of the same daily routine.

3) Do you enjoy working with computers?

I do see this as a kind of personality characteristic. There are people who are happy to spend more than 40 hours a week on a computer, while there are others who need a lot of human interaction throughout the day. Again, these are extremes and you'll likely find a lot of positions somewhere in the middle as well.

4) What type of work environment do you enjoy?

This can range from being in a large building with a lot of people you won't know immediately to a smaller setting where you'll get to know almost all the people there fairly quickly.

5) How do you like to get paid?

Some people are motivated by the pay they get, while others feel too stressed to be like that. The variety of payment designs in the sales industry is a typical example for this.

Anyway, these are a great starting point for you. I've seen it over and over again with people that they make more money over time when they do something they love. It may take you a little longer, but making a move to do what you have a passion for can change the course of your life for the better.

1.Which of the following is TRUE according to the passage?

A. Isolating jobs usually drive people mad.

B. Interactive jobs make people shy easily.

C. Extreme people tend to work with others.

D. Almost everyone has a tendency in jobs.

2.What does the underlined sentence in paragraph one mean?

A. Before you select your job, you should assess your skills and match them with your position

B. There are more important things than assessing skills and match them with the position when you select job.

C. Nothing is important than assessing skills and match them with the position when you select job.

D. You should ignore your skills when you select job.

3. What is the missing word about a job search in the following chart?

A. Design.           B. Changes.          C. Cooperation.        D. Hobbies.

What is your favourite colour? Do you like yellow, orange, red?  1.  . Do you prefer greys and blues? Then you are probably quiet, shy, and you would rather follow than lead. You tend to be pessimist(悲观者). At least, this is what psychologists tell us, and they should know, because they have been seriously studying the meaning of colour preference, as well as the effect that colours have on human beings.  2.  .If you happen to love brown, you did so, as soon as you opened your eyes, or at least as soon as you could see clearly.

 3.  . A yellow room makes most people feel more cheerful and more relaxed than a dark green one; and a red dress brings warmth and cheer to the saddest winter day.  4.  .A black bridge over the Thames River, near London, used to be the scene of more suicides(自杀) than any other bridge in the area---until it was repainted green. The number of suicide attempts immediately fell sharply. Perhaps it would have fallen even more if the bridge had been done in pink or baby blue.

 5.  .It is an established fact that factory workers work better, harder, and have fewer accidents when their machines are painted orange rather than black or grey.

A.On the other hand, black is depressing(使人忧伤).

B.They tell us, among other facts, that we do not choose our favourite colour as grow up --- we are born with our preference.

C.The rooms are painted in different colours as you like.

D.If you do, you must be an optimist, a leader, an active person who enjoys life, people and excitement.
