10.Last weekend I visited Rome for the first time.I spent three busy days in the capital of Italy,seeing lots of tourist attractions and walking down streets lit by Christmas decorations.There were a lot of things I love about the city.
Rome is one of the most ancient cities in the world and is full of wonderful relics(遗迹)from its distant past.These monuments include the Roman Forum and the vast Coliseum where gladiators used to fight each other until death and hunt animals coming from another country.The ruins of buildings and temples are fascinating.You can't quite believe how old they are.
I studied the masterpieces of the Renaissance period at university and was very excited to see them in real life.I walked around the museum in Vatican City and saw plenty of famous sculptures(雕塑).The best part of the visit was,without doubt,the Sistine Chapel Ceiling,painted in the early 16th century by Michelangelo.It was so breathtaking that I couldn't tear my eyes away from it.
In Rome,there is a lot of food on offer for tourists but some of it isn't of very good quality.I made an effort to find reliable restaurants to taste the popular meals of the region,like pasta with tomato,onion and bacon.I also loved eating ice cream and hot chocolate under the Christmas lights.
Rome has not only lots of luxury boutiques(精品店)but also plenty of shops that were more in my price range!It was a perfect opportunity to go and buy presents for my family and friends.There was also a Christmas market,where I bought a sparkly decoration for the tree.

分析 短文主要讲了作者去罗马游玩的事迹,并对罗马进行了介绍.

25.B,细节理解题,根据第二段中的"full of wonderful relics(遗迹) from its distant past""The ruins of buildings and temples are fascinating"可知这些古建筑很迷人是因为它们是以前古罗马的遗址,故答案选B.
26.C,段落大意题,本段主要介绍的是作者此次游玩罗马的过程中涉及艺术的参观活动.故选C.
27.B,推理判断题,根据第四段前两句中的"In Rome, there is a lot of food on offer for tourists but some of it isn't of very good quality.I made an effort to find reliable restaurants to taste the popular meals of the region…"可知,作者暗示选择食物时要特别小心.故选B.

2.We usually believe what our brain tells us,but there is some amazing evidence which shows that the brain tricks us.As a result,we can ignore things that actually are there.Psychologists Daniel Simons and Christopher Chabris have researched this phenomenon, which they call'change blindness'.
The′Invisible Gorilla(看不见的大猩猩)experiment is probably their most famous one,and it is described in many psychology textbooks. In this experiment, the participants were shown a video of two groups of people (one group in white T-shirts and the other group in black T shirts)who passed basketballs around in a hall.Simons and Chabris asked people to count how many times the white team passed the ball. While the two teams were passing their balls around,a person who was dressed up as a gorilla walked through the group and stopped to look at the camera.Simons and Chabris found that about half of the research participants did not notice the gorilla.
Simons and Daniel Levin did another experiment, called the'Door Study'.Participants in this study were walking across a university campus(校园)when they were stopped by someone they didn't know. The stranger asked for directions and the participant started to give the directions. While the participant was talking to the stranger, two men who were carrying a wooden door talked between the participant and the stranger. At this point, the stranger swapped places with one of the men carrying the door. After that, the participant continued to give the directions.Once again, about half of those tested did not notice that, when the door as passing by,the stranger had changed places with a man who as taller, thinner and who sounded different.
It just goes to show how we can't always trust our own rains.Even though we may think we know what is going on,we can be blind to large changes in our environment.

A.The number of people in the hall.

D.The basketball the white team was passing.

A.Whether people could find the correct directions in a strange place.
B.Whether people were patient to offer help after an interruption.
C.Whether people noticed they were talking to different people.
D.Whether people judged others sound.by their appearance and sound.
30.Why do people sometimes ignore what's before their eyes?A

19.My grandmother Rosalind  Einhorn  was born  exactly fifty-two year's before I was,on August 28,1917,Like many poor Jewish families in New York City,hers lived in a small,crowded  apartment close to their relatives.Her parents,aunts,and uncles addressed her male cousins by their given names,but she and her sister were referred to only as"Girlie".
During the Depression t my grandmother was pulled out of Morris High School to help support the household by sewing fabric flowers onto undergarments that her mother could resell for a tiny profit.No one in the community would have considered taking a boy out of school.A boy's edocation was the family's hope to move up the financial and social ladder Education for girls,however,was less significant both financially,since they were unlikely to contribute to the family's income,and culturally,since hoys were expected to study the Torah while girls were expected to run a"proper home?!"Luckily for my grandmother,a local teacher insisted that her parents put her back into school.She went on not only to finish high school but to graduate from U.C Berkeley,
After college,"Girlie"worked selling pocketbooks  and accessories at  David's Fifth Avenue.When she left her job to marry my grandfather,David's  had to hire four people to replace her.Years later,when my grandfathers paint  business was struggling,she jumped in and look some of the hard steps he was reluctant  to take,helping to save the family from financial ruin.She displayed her business ability again in her forties.After being diagnosed (诊断)with breast cancer,she beat it and then devoted herself to raising money for the clinic that treated her by selling some watches.Girlie ended up with a profit that Apple would envy.I have never met anyone with more energy and determination than,my grandmother.
When my grandmother had children of her own-my mother and her two brothers-she emphasized education for all of them.My mother attended the University of Pennsylvania,When she graduated in 1965with a degree in French literature,she surveyed a workforce that she believed consisted of two career options for women:teaching or nursing.She chose teaching.She began a Ph.D.programme,got married,and then dropped out when she became pregnant with me.It was thought to be a sign of weakness if a husband needed his wife's help to support their family,so my mother became a stay-at-home parent and an active volunteer.The centuries-old division of labour stood.
Even though I grew up in a traditional home,my parents had the same expectations for me.my sister,and my brother.All three of us were encouraged to do well in school.do equal routine tasks,and participate in after-school activities.We were all supposed to be athletic too.My brother and sister joined sports teams,but I was the kid who got picked last in gym,Despite my athletic shortcomings.I was raised to believe that girls could do aoything boys could do and that all career paths were open to me.
When I arrived at college in the fall of 1987.my classmates of both genders seemed equally focused on academics.I don't remember thinking about my future career differently from the male students.I also don't  remember any conversations about someday balancing work and children.My friends and I assumed that we would have both.Men and women competed openly and aggressively with one another in classes,activities,and job intefviews.Just two generations removed from my grandmother,the playing field seemed to be level.
But more than twenty years after my college graduation.the world has not evolved nearly as much as I believed it would.Almost all of my male classmates work in professional settings.Sonic of my female classmates work full-time or part-time outside the home.and just as many are stay-at-home  mothers and volunteers like my mom.This mirrors the national trend.In comparison to their male counterparts (相同能力者),highly trained women are scaling back and dropping out of the workforce in high numbers.
