________you were coming,I would have stayed at home.

A.If I knowB.Should I knowC.Had I knownD. If I should have known

C

【解析】

试题分析:句意:我要是知道你要来,我就呆在家里了。根据I would have stayed at home.可知是和过去相反的虚拟语气,从句用过去完成时,这里可以省略if,将had提前,所以选C。

考点:考查虚拟语气的省略倒装

Former Irish President Mary Robinson was just making a polite conversation with an Ethiopian (埃塞俄比亚的) teenager about her wedding day. The 16?year?old had already been married for a year. “She looked at me with the saddest eyes and said, ‘I had to drop out of school’,” Robinson said in a telephone interview. “That conveyed to me the reality,” said Robinson, the first woman to serve as Ireland's president and former U.N. high commissioner for human fights. “Her life, as far as she is concerned, had more or less ended.”

Robinson said keeping girls in school was one of the most important things policymakers could do to address the coming challenges of an ever-increasing population, predicted by the United Nations to reach 7 billion soon. “European countries are concerned about aging populations as is Japan, but this is much less of an issue than the huge number of people which we are going to see over the next 40 years when the population goes from 7 billion to 9 billion,” she said. “Almost all of that increase will be in poor developing countries, so that we have a very big challenge.”

Family planning experts worry in particular about the future population explosion in sub?Saharan Africa. In May, the United Nations projected the world population would reach 9.3billion in 2050 and 10.1 billion by 2100. Much of that growth will come from Africa, where the population is growing at 2.3 percent a year—more than double Asia's 1 percent growth rate. If that rate stays consistent, which is not certain, Africa's population will reach 3.6 billion by 2100 from the present 1 billion.

Joel Cohen, a professor of population studies at Rockefeller University and Columbia University in New York, said universal secondary education offered a way to reduce population in high birth?rate regions. In addition to providing information about birth control, a secondary education teaches women to reduce their own fertility (生育力), improve the health of their children and allows them to move from a mind?set of having many children, in the hopes that some will survive to improving the quality of each child's life, Cohen wrote in the journal Nature.

4.According to Robinson, what is one of the most important things policymakers can do to prevent the population from increasing rapidly?

While Jennifer was at home taking an online exam for her business law class, a monitor(监控器)a few hundred miles away was watching her every move.

Using a web camera equipped in Jennifer’s Los Angeles apartment, the monitor in Phoenix tracked how frequently her eyes moved from the computer screen and listened for the secret sounds of a possible helper in the room. Her Internet access was locked -- remotely -- to prevent Internet searches , and her typing style was analyzed to make sure she was who she said she was: Did she enter her student number at the same speed as she had in the past? Or was she slowing down?

In the battle against cheating, this is the advanced technique and a key to encourage honesty in the booming field of online education. The technology gives trust to the entire system, to the institution and to online education in general. Only with solid measures against cheating, experts say, can Internet universities show that their exams and diplomas are valid(有效的) - that students haven’t just searched the Internet to get the right answers.

Although online classes have existed for more than a decade, the concern over cheating has become sharper in the last year with the growth of "open online courses." Private colleges, public universities and corporations are jumping into the online education field, spending millions of dollars to attract potential students, while also taking steps to help guarantee honesty at a distance.

Aside from the web cameras, a number of other high-tech methods are becoming increasingly popular. Among them are programs that check students’ identities using personal information, such as the telephone number they once used.

Other programs can produce unique exam by drawing on a large list of questions and can recognize possible cheaters by analyzing whether difficult test questions are answered at the same speed as easy ones. As in many university classes, term papers are scanned against some large Internet data banks for cheating.

1.Why was Jennifer watched in an online exam?

A.To correct her typing mistakes.

B.To find her secrets in the room.

C.To prevent her from slowing down.

D.To keep her from dishonest behaviors.

2.For Internet universities, exams and diplomas will be valid if _____.

A.they can attract potential students

B.they can defeat academic cheating

C.they offer students online help

D.they offer many online courses

3.Some programs can find out possible cheaters by _____.

A.checking the question answering speed

B.producing a large number of question

C.scanning the Internet test question

D.giving difficult test question

4.Which of the following is the best title of this passage?

A.The Advantages of Online Exams

B.The High-tech Methods in Online Courses

C.The Fight against Cheating in Online Education

D.The War against the Booming of Online Education
