        With its budget of $80 million, John Woo as director, and an all-star cast (明星云集
    的演员阵容), Red Cliff is the most expensive and ambitious Asian-financed film ever. Last
    week I saw the release of the second part, and boy oh boy does it shows.
        But watching the film as a foreigner I felt I was missing out on something. Not knowing
    my Cao Cao's from my Zhou Yu's, I was not even sure whom I wanted to win. Certainly after
    the opening scene, in which Cao Cao is seen watching a game of Cuju, an ancient Chinese
    variation of football, I knew who had my support. After all, any man who enjoys his
    football is someone after my own heart. But after Cao Cao resorted to some evil strategies
    against his enemies in the south, I wasn't so sure he was the man I should be rooting for. 
        And there is a lot more to Red Cliff 2 than just extravagant battle scenes. The film
    does not take itself too seriously. Conversations between leaders are littered with one-
    liners, many of which had the audience in laughter. There is even enough to keep fans of
    more romantic entertainment happy too. This includes a charming relationship between a
    southern spy (侦探) and an innocent northern soldier. The characters' interaction provides
    some genuinely heart-warming moments in the middle of the battle.
        Clocking in at(结束于) around two hours, the film certainly does justice to the
    history story. When I walked out the cinema, I felt as drained (精疲力竭) as Cao Cao's
    soldiers must have 1,800 years ago.

    In videos of the experiment, you can see children squirming, kicking, hiding their eyes—desperately trying to control themselves. Some did wait patiently, while others couldn’t wait a single minute.
    Years later, the self-controlled children turned out to get higher SAT scores and got into better colleges. The children who couldn’t wait were more likely to become bullies.
    So, the chocolates are still in the fridge. My son Harry is doing his homework with a promise that he can play on the Wii later, and my student says he will try harder to control himself. We all have our own temptations. But if we can control them, we will achieve more.

            Google on Tuesday said it reached a settlement in a group action suit（诉讼）against the search
    giant     over privacy breakings related to its Buzz socials networking program.
            In the settlement, Google agreed to pay $ 8.5 million into a fund （基金）for privacy education the
    company made clear that the agreement did not include cash payments to users.
            Buzz, started last February as an application within Gmail, in some cases exposed the lists of persons
    touched and other data of users to other Gmail users.

            “Google rarely inform Gmail users via email, but this time we let you know that we’ve reached a
    settlement regarding Google Buzz,” the firm said in messages sent to its U. S. users. Some analysts think

            “The settlement acknowledges that we quickly changed the service to address users’concerns,”
    Google wrote.
             Google said that everyone in the United States who uses Gmail was included in the settlement unless
    they decide to take no party before December 6, 2010. On January 31, 2011 the U. S. distriet Court for
    the Northem District of California in San Jose will hold a fairness hearing on the settlement.
            Google is under increasing pressure from federal regulators (监管者) for privacy problem involving
    Buzz and its Street View mapping service. Last week, the FTC closed its looking into Google’s collection
    of Wi - Fi data with Street View mapping cars, saying the company had made sufficient promises to get
    rid of data it collected and strengthen its privacy training among employees.

         BEIJING-Apple Inc is one step closer to beginning sales of iPad2 tablet computers with cellular  
    network compatibility (兼容) for the first time in the Chinese mainland, where the consumer-electronics
    giant is in the midst of an aggressive expansion.
         According to China's Telecommunication Equipment Certification Center, a device by Apple with
    third-generation high-speed wireless data capabilities was issued the network access license needed for
    the company to begin official sales in China. The device, listed under model number "A1396", is
    compatible with the 3G standard WCDMA, and would work with the cellular network operated by
    Apple's local iPhone partner, China Unicom (Hong Kong) Ltd.
           China Unicom declined  to comment.
           Apple already offers the 3G iPad2 in Hong Kong through its partners, but currently only offers
    Wi-Fi versions of the device in the Chinese mainland. Still, consumers in China, which according to
    research firm IDC surpassed  the US as the world's largest PC market in the second quarter, have been
    purchasing 3G tablets through unofficial channels.
           Separately, Apple spokeswoman Carolyn Wu said on Sept 6 that the company's first Hong Kong
    store, set to open this quarter, will be located in the city's central shopping and business district in the
    International Finance Center's upscale (高档的) IFC mall, a commercial center and sightseeing spot
    along the city's waterfront. Wu also said that Apple is planning a new store in Shanghai later this quarter,
    which will be its biggest store in China. She declined to give more details or to comment on the 3G iPad2.
           Apple currently has four full-service Apple stores in the mainland, which receive the most traffic of
    any Apple stores in the world. The company otherwise relies on resellers to get its products into the
    market.
           The new stores reflect Apple's confidence in rising demand for its products such as smart phones
    and tablet computers. Sales in the Chinese mainland, Hong Kong and Taiwan helped boost (增长) the
    company's third-quarter results, newly appointed Chief Executive Tim Cook said in July. China revenue (收益) surged (激增) six-fold to about $3.8 billion during the three months ended June 25.
           "This has been a substantial (重大) opportunity for Apple and I firmly believe that we're just
    scratching the surface right now," Cook said at the time, referring to strong sales in China. "I see an
    incredible opportunity for Apple there."
