4.Around 200 people who thought their only experience of the London 2012 Olympic Games would be minor heats of synchronized swimming (花样游泳) have received an unexpected hange to the men's 100m final because of an embarrassing ticketing mistake.
The London 2012 Organising Committee (Locog) confirmed on Wednesday that an error n its ticket selling had led to four synchronised swimming competitions being oversold by 10,000 tickets.
Locog and its ticket agent spent the Christmas period contacting ticket holders and offering them alternatives that included the tickets they had applied for but unsuccessful. The hanges need no additional cost.It has also offered to return any discrepancy (差额) if the n ew tickets cost less than the originals.Locog said the replacement tickets would come from a number of unsold seats across the Olympic Games and itwas doing all it could to make up the error to the fans who bought tickets.

9.Keeping a busy social life among lots of friends may keep people thinner than spending hours doing some exercises,according to scientists.They say that socializing and meeting with friends help increase levels of brown fat in the body which burns calories(卡路里)to produce heat.
Living in an exciting social environment was found to reduce fat in mice's belly by half over four weeks,even if they ate more.US researchers say that social excitement aids weight loss by turning white fat into brown.White fat stores calories and makes us fatter,while brown burns energy to produce heat.Turning white fat into brown is extremely difficult,normally requiring long-term stay in cold conditions or exciting part of the body's nervous system.
However,scientists from Ohio State University now think that having a busy social life is an even more effective way of changing white fat into brown.The team came up with their theory by studying the effects of various living environments on mice.Those,who lived alongside a greater number of mice,had more space and toys to excite themselves and then lost far more weight over the course of the study than their"couch potato"fellows.
Study author,Dr Matthew During,whose team's findings appear in the journal Cell Metabolism,said,"I'm still amazed at the degree of fat loss that occurs."Explaining how new technology had threatened face-to-face socializing,he added,"It's not just a sedentary (久坐的)lifestyle and high calorie foods,but an increasing lack of social activities."Co-author Dr Lei Cao said,"Loneliness is a potential factor for cancer and death; it's equal to cigarette smoking to a certain extent.Social activities are very vital.,

67.What information can we get from the first two paragraphs?D
A.Brown fat stores calories and makes us fatter.
B.It doesn't take long to turn white fat into brown.
C.Social excitement helps gain more weight.
D.Brown fat can burn energy to produce heat.
68.Which of the following statement does the text support?A
A.Levels of brown fat can be increased by socializing.
B.The mice lacking social life lose more weight.
C.The research findings haven't been published so far.
D.Dr Matthew During wasn't convinced of the result.
69.We can conclude from the text thatC.
A.the fat in mice's belly was reduced because of the relaxing environment
B.a sedentary lifestyle and high calories foods influence people's social life
C.surfing the Internet may influence people's face-to-face communication
D.cancer and death are mainly caused for lack of social life
70.What's the main idea of the text?D
A.Brown fat is beneficial to people's health.
B.Socializing is unnecessarily important in people's daily life.
C.White fat can be changed into brown fat.

13.Foxes and farmers have never got on well. These small dog-like animals have long been accused of killing farm animals. They are officially classified as harmful and farmers try to keep their numbers down by shooting or poisoning them.
Farmers can also call on the services of their local hunt to control the fox population.Hunting consists of pursuing a fox across the countryside, with a group of specially trained dogs, followed by men and women riding horses. When the dogs eventually catch the fox they kill it or a hunter shoots it.
People who take part in hunting think of as a sport; they wear a special uniform of red coats and white trousers, and follow strict codes of behavior. But owning a horse and hunting regularly is expensive,so most hunters are wealthy.
It is estimated that up to 100,000 people watch or take part in fox hunting. But over the last couple of decades the number of people opposed to fox hunting, because they think it is cruel, has risen sharply.Nowadays it is rare for a hunt to pass off without some kind of conflict between hunters and hunt saboteurs (阻拦者).Sometimes these incidents lead to violence, but mostly saboteurs attempt to stop the hunt by misleading riders and disturbing the trail of the fox's smell, which the dogs follow.
Noisy conflicts between hunters and saboteurs have become so common that they are almost as much a part of hunting as running after foxes itself. But this year supporters of fox hunting face a much bigger threat to their sport.A Labor Party Member of the Parliament(议会),Mike Foster,is trying to get Parliament to approve a new law which will make the hunting of wild animals with dogs illegal. If the law is passed, wild animals like foxes will be protected under the ban in Britain.
31.Why are foxes considered as harmful animals?D
A.Because they can't get on well with farmers.
B.Because they are very cruel.
C.Because they are shot by hunters.
D.Because they kill farm animals.
32.British hunters have been hunting foxesA
A.for recreation
B.for the benefit of the farmers
C.to limit the fox population
D.to show off their wealth
33.How do fox hunting saboteurs often prevent foxes being hunted?B
A.By means of violence
B.By confusing the fox hunters.
C.By taking illegal action
D.By making laws.
34.Which of the following statements is NOT true according to the passage?A
A.Only the rich can be regular fox hunters.
B.Hunters kill foxes by shooting or poisoning them.
C.Hunting foxes has some rules to follow.
D.More and more British people object to fox hunting.
35.What can be inferred from the last paragraph?D
A.Mike Foster is a firm supporter of fox hunting.
B.Fox hunters and saboteurs seldom have conflicts nowadays.
C.The law to ban hunting wild animals will be passed in Britain this year.
D.As a sport, fox hunting may disappear in Britain in the future.
