Last week, I was lucky enough to interview a foreign volunteer teaching in rural China, Eckart Loewe, about his way of volunteering. Eckart Loewe, born in Hamburg, Germany in 1968, began to love the countryside of Guangxi after 3-month tour (3 months¡¯tour)in China in the summer of 1990. Since 1999, he has been a volunteer teacher in a village there. During teaching in China, he finds that Chinese parents always pay attention to their children¡¯s grades, but ignore their natures and interests. In his opinion, if a person lives only for others ideas, he will never find the direction and power of himself.
