He says our relation with others often becomes clearly 5 when money enters the picture. You might have 6 with somebody and you think that you are very good friends. But you will 7 him only when you ask him to lend you some money. If he does, it brings 8 to the friendship that seems stronger than ever before. Or it can suddenly 9the friendship if he doesn’t.
Since money is so important to us, we consider those who possess a lot of it 10 very important. The author interviewed some millionaires for 11. In his book, the professor uncovered an important need in modern society: to bring back 17 that money is an instrument 18 the end.19  plays an important role in the material world, but expecting money to give happiness may be 20   the meaning of life.

A friend of mine met with an accident driving in darkness. His legs were so hurt that he couldn’t move. What was the 1was that he found himself unable to ask for help—his mobile phone went out of 2 as a result of exhausted battery (无电) . Nothing could be done but to 3 in cold wilderness (荒野). It was eight hours later that day broke, and then 4 of the rescue (援救).
It is almost 5 that he could stand (忍受)the horror in the darkness for so long. Even more surprising was his 6: “First of all, I checked up my 7 conditions and found myself not in mortal (致命的) danger. As there was no 8 to call for help, I leaned back in my seat trying my best to keep the wound from 9. In this way I dozed (瞌睡) off.”
His story put an end to my regret (遗憾) for the 10 of an exploration adventure (探险) that happened last year. A group of young men 11 to explore a mountain cave and got lost. 12 to find a way out in the dark cave they were frightened and ran anxiously without a sense of 13. Finally they felt dead in fear and exhaustion. According to the 14 people that found them, the place where they got lost was only about 10 meters away from the 15 of the cave. If they stayed on the spot when they lost their way and tried to 16 themselves, they would probably sense a faint light glimmering (闪烁) not far away.
Don’t you think you can compare it with 17 itself? When you meet with difficulty in life and work, you are lost in darkness. 18 you it’s unclear yet and you needn’t put up struggle 19. It seems to be a negative (消极)attitude, 20 a person who can afford to do so must have foresight (远见) as well as a great courage in the first place.

“Down-to-earth” means someone or something that is honest, practical and easy to deal with. It is 1 to find someone who is down-to-earth. A person who is down-to-earth is easy to talk to and 2 other people as equals. A down-to-earth person is just the 3 of someone who acts important and proud.
Down-to-earth persons 4 be important members of society, of course. 5 they do not let their importance “go to their heads”. They do not 6 themselves to be better persons than others of less importance. Someone who is filled with his own importance and pride, often without cause, is 7 to have “his nose in the air”. There is 8 way a person with his nose in the air can be down-to-earth.
Americans 9 another expression that means almost the same as “down-to-earth”. The expression is “both-feet-on-the-ground”. Someone with both-feet-on-the-ground is a person with a good 10 of reality. He 11 what is called “common sense”. He may have 12, but he does not allow them to 13 his knowledge of what is real.
The opposite kind of 14 is one who has his “head-in-the-clouds”. A man with his-head-in-the-clouds is a dreamer whose 15 is not in the real world.
16, such a dreamer can be brought back to earth. 17 words from a teacher can usually bring a day-dreaming student down-to-earth.
Usually, the person who is down-to-earth is very 18 to have both feet on-the –ground.19 we have both our feet on-the –ground, when we are down-to-earth, we act 20 and openly towards others. Our lives are like the ground below us, solid and strong.

The Johnson family from England believe they are lucky to be alive after surviving an incredible incident off the coast of Australia. The Johnsons had been 1 that they might see some whales when they were 2 a yacht—a large expensive boat for a 10-day sailing 3 around the Whitsunday Islands. 4, they had no clue just how 5 their viewing would be. Two hours into their journey a nine-meter-long humpback whale 6 out of the ocean and crashed into their boat before returning to the water.
Mark Johnson, the eldest son,was sailing the yacht when he heard an immense bang and a thud (重击声). He 7 thought the yacht had hit a rock. But when he looked up, he saw the whale 8 down the deck of the boat. He told the reporters, “We were staring into its right eye. It was a very 9 moment. The eye was about the 10 of a dinner plate. It was huge!”
11 for the Johnson family, no one was hurt, but the yacht suffered 12 damage. The whale had ruined the mast and rigging—the pole and ropes which hold the 13 —and so the family was left with no way at sea, 10 miles from the shore. The 14 equipment was also damaged, but fortunately they had a cell phone and were able to call for help.
Why the whale jumped onto the yacht is a 15,but the family thinks that maybe the boat had not 16 sailed between the whale and its baby calf. Perhaps the whale was trying to 17 its calf when it jumped, and hit the yacht by accident.
18 the reason, people are completely 19 that this incident happened. There is over 135 million square miles of ocean, so what are the 20 of a whale jumping onto a 30-foot-long yacht? The possibility of something like this happening is extremely small, but it just shows that life is full of surprises.

I have always wanted to share this story because it is one of the things that I will remember for my entire life. And I’m sure 1 person feels the same.
We had a new teacher in my high school World History class. She was very nice and excited to see us. She told a story about her 2 fighting in a war and brought a picture of him. After about fifteen 3 of her talking, the class started talking softly to each other 4 they were getting bored. Looking 5, she asked “So, you guys don’t really want to hear any more?” No one dared to actually say “no” to her out loud 6 one kid. He said, “No, not really!” in a disrespectful way. Some kids were a little 7 and thought that it was rather rude.
I felt extremely bad for this teacher. No one deserves to be 8 in such a disrespectful manner. 9, a little before class let out, I went up to her and 10 for the guy’s rude behavior. I told her I had been 11, and even though I may not entirely like 12, I did appreciate her sharing her story. I asked her 13 about her father and asked to see the picture of him. We had a very nice, genuine conversation about her father.
The teacher was 14. She really appreciated me coming up and actually treating her with the 15 that she deserved. I felt at full peace with myself knowing that I did the right thing and I was super happy that I actually 16. Even though I didn’t really care for history, I 17 listened, and I hope that others in different situations will do the same. Listening means a lot to the people sharing; it really 18. If I had just left the class without saying a word, I would have felt extremely 19 and would have a constant reminder, probably to this day, that 20 was not served and I had left a person in their time of need.
