When I was in primary school, sometimes I would meet a girl of the same age as me. Lisa was never active, but she was always very sweet and nice. In the 5th grade she came to my class. She was absent a lot, and one day I had the courage to ask why. She told me she was sick, and she explained she wore a wig (假发)because her medicine made her lose her hair. Since then, anytime Lisa came to class, I would hang around with her on the playground.

I received much ridicule (嘲笑)from my friends for this because they thought I was ignoring them for Lisa. My family education taught me to be nice, and I felt Lisa’s needs were much more important than others I knew.

It had been months since Lisa was in our class, and one day our teacher was crying. She explained Lisa died the day before and would no longer be our classmate. She told us Lisa had fought a battle (斗争) with cancer for years.

I was shocked. Lisa never spoke of her illness as if it could kill her. Well, all these years I have kept Lisa in my mind and heart. When I go through the important events in my life, I think of Lisa.

I’ve had a strong wish recently to find her mother and father. I’d like to tell them that though they never met me, their daughter had a sweet effect on my life. I have no idea what her parents’ first names are. I write to your column (专栏) and hope you can point me in the right direction.

Lisa was such a lovely girl. Maybe her parents would be comforted by the fact that after all these years they are not the only ones who remember her.

4.The author wrote this passage mainly to .

A. remember a true friend

This is an interview between the reporter and Sarah, a girl who created a website(网站) for her school.

Reporter: Why did you start this new website for Alcott Middle School?

Sarah: Three months ago, my mom was complaining about how she never hears about the days our school ends early until after the fact. She works late and sometimes she has to ask our neighbor at the last minute to pick me up after school. It happened several times, and she was frustrated that there wasn’t better notification (通知) from the school.

Reporter: Didn’t your school already have a website with that information?

Sarah: We had a website. But there wasn’t much information on it, and nobody was responsible for keeping it up-to-date (包含最新信息的). I asked my teacher if our class could update the school calendar. That seemed pretty easy.

Reporter: Was it?

Sarah: Yeah, and it was kind of fun. So then we asked the principal (校长) if we could redo the whole site. He said okay, so we went to work. We discovered websites that taught us how to make our site look better and added more hot links that people could click to get more information about a subject. We posted photos from basketball games. Our class even started a blog about what’s going on at school. Then we persuaded the teachers to create their own pages.

Reporter: So what’s next?

Sarah: A few friends and I started a small Web design business. We’re asking other schools if they’ll employ us to set up a site like the one we created.

Reporter: Wow! That’s pretty enterprising (有事业心的) for a 13-year-old.

Sarah: I guess so. But it doesn’t seem like work when you’re doing something you enjoy.

London will host a major exhibition(展览) of 15th-century Chinese artwork, including paintings, sculptures (雕塑)and porcelain, which are all from Ming Dynasty (1368-1644).

The exhibition will be open from Sept 18 to Jan 5. On display will be 108 cultural relics from 10 museums in China, as well as collections from the British Museum and museums in Japan, the United States and Europe. The exhibition will be in five parts to give an overview of the society.

"This was a time when the political and social system of the dynasty became stable(稳定), and the country also experienced huge changes. China was in frequent contact with the rest of the world at that time, and its artists and scholars also influenced other cultures," said Yao Yu, the director of this activity. During this time, Beijing became the capital of China, and Zheng He (1371-1433) set sail and reached the shores of eastern Africa.

Jessica from the British Museum, said "reading" an artwork may differ in different cultures. "When a Chinese audience sees a painting you see figures and stories. But we see beautiful views. " However, she added that the British public had a basic knowledge of the dynasty and many British people probably knew more about the later period of the Ming Dynasty after the Portuguese and Spanish came to China to trade. Their houses and dining tables have Chinese blue and white vases but they don’t know much about the earlier period, which in China was a more culturally important period.

"We’d like to take away people from the idea that China became international after the Europeans arrived. China in the early Ming Dynasty was very international. "

B. Learn something by heart.

C. Look at and appreciate something.

D. Write down something.

3.Which of the following is NOT true about the Ming Dynasty?

A. It was a time when the political system of the dynasty was stable.

B. Beijing became the capital of China during that time.

C. Zheng He sailed to the shores of eastern Africa.

D. Ming Dynasty started from 1368 and came to an end in 1433.

4.What can we know from Jessica?
