Sweet and his co-workers recently analyzed data from 45tide gauges（计量表） along the US coasts．These tools record the changing heights of tides as they rise and fall．From these data，Sweet's team calculated the number of"troublesome floods"in various coastal cities．These floods，Sweet explains，typically occur when water level is about 30centimeters（1foot） above the historic level of the highest tides．In June 2014，the team reported finding a growing rise in these flooding events．
In Charleston，S．C，from 1957to 1963，the city experienced troublesome floods an average of 4.6days per year．Bur from 2007to 2013，the occurring rate of troublesome floods jumped five times．Annapolis city was even more serious．From 1957to 1963，troublesome floods were roughly 3.8days per year．From 2007to 2013，the average was 10times higher---39.3days a year．
"Over the next few decades，climate change probably drives sea levels even higher，"Sweet says．"So today's flooding problems promise to become only more widespread and frequent．"

4．The World Health Organization warns that millions of people are dying every year from indoor air pollution．Nearly three billion people are unable to use clean fuels and technologies for cooking，heating and lighting．
These findings show that the use of deadly fuels in inefficient stoves，space heaters or lights is to blame for many of these deaths．

The United Nations found that more than 95percent of households in sub-Saharan Africa depend on solid fuels for cooking．It says huge populations in India，China and Latin American countries，such as Guatemala and Peru，also are at risk．
Nigel Brace is a professor of Public Health at the University of Liverpool．He says researchers are developing good cook-stoves and other equipment to burn fuels in a more efficient way．There are already multiple technologies available for use in clean fuels．There is really uite an effective and reasonably low-cost alcohol stove that is made by Dometic（a Sweden-based company）that is now being tested out．LPG （liquified petroleum gas）cook is obviously widely available and efforts are under way to make those efficient．Another interesting development is electric induction stoves（电磁炉）．WHO experts note some new，safe and low-cost technologies that could help are already available．In India，you can buy an induction stove for about 8.00．And in Africa you can buy a solar lamp for less than 1.00．
But，this，the agency says，is just a start．It is urging developing countries to use cleaner fuels and increase access to cleaner and more modern cooking and heating appliances．
