The Virgin Oceanic Submarine (潜水艇)is an entirely new type of vessel that can dive to 37,000 feet and fly through the ocean using wings . similar to an airplane' s wings. It will be able to dive 7 miles straight down to the deepest place on the planet, the bottom of the Mariana Trench (海沟)where only one other vessel has ever gone before. This amazing new submarine is what Richard Branson invented for his fellow adventurer and dear friend, Steve Fossett, who had dreamed of piloting it himself, but when he was flying over the Nevada desert he failed to return. Just as Branson uses new technology to explore our planet and beyond it, he also uses it to save our planet. He created a challenge with a $25 million prize for technology which would remove greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. Naturally, this challenge is called the Virgin Earth Challenge, This idea came from seeing the X- Prize succeed in stimulating (刺激)the invention that finally created Space Ship One. No new technology has yet hit the marketplace as a result of this challenge.

Branson' s genius for seeing something great and making it happen first became apparent when he started selling "cut-out" records. He was soon able to create his own recording studio with the. profits. From there, Branson proceeded to discover and promote new musical artists. His instinct for finding innovative (创新的)artists is the same instinct he now applies to finding innovative technology.

BEIJING ——The Chinese economy has shown positive signs of stabilizing 0急定),but it's hard to judge what it will be next year, governor of China's central bank said Thursday.

Zhou Xiaochuan, governor of the People' s Bank of China, made the remarks on a discussion with delegates from the financial field to the 18th National Congress of the Communist Party of China, which opened here Thursday morning.

China's economic momentum (冲力)will depend on not only domestic conditions, but also changes brought by the global financial crisis, said Zhou, who is also a CPC delegate to the national congress.

He said it's hard to judge how the global financial crisis will continue to affect the Chinese economy, because the spreading of the European debt crisis and the so- called “fiscal cliff”,problem in the United States have increased uncertainties of the world economy.

"We need to monitor the effect on our economy of the monetary easing policies launched recently by the United States and the European Union," he said.

There is a problem each of us faces in following advice on emotional healing: apologizing is difficult. We are trapped in what we think of ourselves by holding onto our pride. We can be selfish and not willing to admit our most obvious mistakes. Pride eats away at us as we argue or ignore the mistake.

It's happened to me. I have had too much pride and selfishness to apologize to a loved one I hurt. When I did want to apologize, I couldn't bring myself to face the other person. This is the pride I'm talking about. Maybe apologies come difficult for men because they're expected to be dominant (占优势的).It's like the joke that a man never asks for directions when lost. Ladies are more emotionally open than guys and are willing to express it. Still, both genders wonder how to correctly apologize.

In shifting (改变)the focus on apologizing away from you, what does not apologizing do to other people? They feel hurt that you are not willing to communicate your mistake. They lose trust in you as you hide behind your mistake avoiding reality. They become angry with you, wondering why you will not tell them the truth. They may begin to counter your lack of apologies by not apologizing themselves and from this the relationship goes downhill as the two of you get caught in a power struggle.

You need to communicate your mistakes. A mistake you made is like a scratch and by not apologizing you are making the scratch a deeper wound and rubbing salt into it. You need to stop hurting the other person and yourself by learning to apologize. There is real power in apologizing and emotional healing.                                                                  .

A. They don't intend to hurt other people.

B. They expect others to forgive them.

C. They don't want to be considered weak.

 37. What bad effect will there be if you refuse to apologize for your mistakes?

A. Other people won't pay attention to you.                                                      ..:.

B. You will lose confidence in .yourself.

C. You won't be forgiven even if you tell the truth.

D. The friendship will get hurt and go worse.
