You always like to stay indoors and I13that you will feel too lonely, so I have to save my mouth to tell you jokes and stories. You always stare14the computer and that will do nothing15for your eyes, so I have to save my eyes so that when we grow16, I can help to clip your nails. Thus, my dear,17I am sure that there is someone who loves you more than I do, I could not pick that flower yet, and die.”
My tears fell on the18and I continued reading:

The day was Thankful Thursday, our “ regular day” of service. It’s a 1tradition that my two little girls and I began years ago. On this 2Thursday, we had no idea exactly what we were going to do.
3 along a busy road, we prayed for guidance in search of 4our weekly Act of Kindness. My girls were5, and started shouting “ McDonald’s” . Suddenly I realized that almost every crossing I6 was occupied by a beggar, and then it hit me! All these beggars must be hungry. Perfect! We were going to buy7for them.
It was a great way to8. The Act of Kindness was anonymous(匿名的),and we loved what we saw in the back view mirror: a9and delighted person holding up his lunch bag and just looking at us10we drove off.
We had come to the end of our “ route” where there was a small woman standing there, asking for11. We handed her our final lunch bag, and then made a U-turn to head back in the opposite direction for home. Unfortunately, the light stopped us. I was 12and didn’t know quite how to behave.
“No one has ever done anything like this for me before,” the woman said with13. I replied, “Well, I’m glad that we were the first one.”14 uneasy , and wanting to move the conversation along, I asked, “So, when do you think you’11 eat your lunch?”
“Oh honey, I’m not going to15this lunch.” I was confused , and she continued , “I have a little girl of my own at home and she just 16 McDonald’s , but I can never buy it for her because I just don’t have the 17 . You know what… tonight she is going to have McDonald’s !”
So many times I had18whether our Acts of Kindness were too small or insignificant to really19any difference . Yet in that moment, I recognized the20of Mother Teresa’s words, “We cannot do great things---only small things with great love.”

Butterfly’s wings

One day, I entered Donna’s classroom, took a seat in the back of the room and2.All the students were working on a task. The student next to me was filling her page with “I Can’ts.” “I can’t kick the soccer ball.” “I can’t get Debbie to like me.” Her page was half full and she showed no3of stopping. I walked down the row and found4was writing sentences, describing things they couldn’t do.
By this time the activity aroused my5, so I decided to check with the teacher to see what was going on,6I noticed she too was busy writing “I can’t get John’s mother to come for a parents’ meeting.” …I felt it best not to interrupt.
After another ten minutes, the students were instructed to fold the papers in half and bring them to the front. They placed their “I Can’t” statements into an empty shoe box. Then Donna7hers. She put the lid on the box, tucked it under her arm and headed out the door.

Donna delivered the eulogy(悼词).“Friends, we gathered here today to honor the memory of ‘I Can’t.’ He is11by his brothers and sisters ‘I Can’ and ‘I Will’. May ‘I Can’t’ rest in12. Amen!”
She turned the students13and marched them back into the classroom. They celebrated the14of “I Can’t”. Donna cut a large tombstone from paper. She wrote the words “I Can’t ”at the top and the date at the bottom, then hung it in the classroom. On those rare occasions when a student forgot and said, “I Can’t,” Donna15pointed to the paper tombstone. The student then remembered that “I Can’t” was dead and chose other statement.

The Squirrel and the Lion
A squirrel, merrily leaping on the branches of an oak tree, accidentally missed its hold and fell upon a lion who lay sound asleep at the trunk. His Majesty awoke in 1, and displayed his terrific teeth to the 2 squirrel, who, in the most humble manner, begged 3 for the intrusion. “I grant you your life,” said the lion, “but on condition that you tell me the reason why you are always so lively and 4, while my time passes so boringly.”
“Yes, sire,” replied the squirrel, “I will, in return for your mercy, tell you the secret. But he who speaks the truth ought to stand higher than he who 5 it; permit me, therefore, to jump up the tree.”
The lion agreed to this and when the squirrel was out of his 6 he thus addressed him: “You seek to know how I am always merry. 7 gives me a joyous mind, but sire, you are just lacking in it. Believe me, there is great meaning and truth in these words, and often have I heard my father observe when young: “Son, let your happiness be founded in virtue, and pleasure will be the constant 10 of your heart.”.

I am always eager to do experiments, especially chemistry ones. It's1to work with test tubes and beakers , even though sometimes my efforts end in failure. Experiments were fun for me 2a recent accident.
The accident happened when I was heating a big test tube with an alcohol burner , chatting to my partner. All of a sudden, the tube cracked. Even though I jumped from my seat when I heard the crack, the hair on my forehead was burnt as I was leaning too close to the test tube.
3I had no time to be sad about my hair: the liquid in the test tube poured onto the table and caught fire. I'd never4anything so bad! My mind went blank for a moment. Then I quickly covered the fire with a damp cloth to put it out.
The teacher told me that the test tube broke in half at the bottom because we didn't dry it properly before5it.
We calmed down and did the experiment, again. But our hearts were still6rapidly even after we walked out of the lab.
But my bad luck didn't end there! Since all our7was focused on the flames while we were in the lab, I didn't see the liquid falling onto my trousers.
During the following class, I felt a pain in my leg. Soon it became more and m6re painful and I touched the area with my fingers,8to make things better. But to my great9, the material of my trousers turned into powder! "Vitriol ! ! ! The terrible word came into my mind. I rushed out right away to wash and examine my poor skin. 10, it was not a serious injury.
After changing my trousers I thought it's very important to have a serious attitude in chemistry class. Doing scientific experiments as a learner is no laughing matter.
