The Ministry of Education said on Monday that starting this spring, a system of recycling textbooks will be established in rural primary and secondary schools, which means some textbooks will be given to students by the schools free of charge at the start of a term and be returned at the end of the school term so that they can be used by other students.
The central government will set up a fund for the purchase of these textbooks, and the students will be required to keep the books in good order for their reuse by others.
It is a heartening move with two major benefits.
First, it will lighten the financial burden on government and families.  Textbook costs account for 53 percent of all the fees primary school students must pay and about 65 percent of those facing middle school students.
Second, using secondhand books is environmentally friendly because of the resources such as trees and energy that are saved. According to industry figures, producing one ton of texbook paper requires 20 trees aged between 20 to 40 years, 100 tons of water, 1.2 tons of coal and other materials and churns out 300 tons of polluted water.

I once met a middle-aged stranger who said his money had been stolen at the railway station，so he had no money to go home. At first I could not accept that because I didn't think he was telling the truth. But when I saw tears in his eyes，I began to believe that he might be in the real trouble，so，just immediately I gave him all the money I had. When he took the money， his face turned red. When I came back to school and told my classmates about my story，they held different opinions. In one way of thinking, failure is a part of life. In another way, failure may be a way towards success. The “spider story’’ often told, Robert Bruce, leader of the Scots in the 13 th century, was hiding in a cave from the English. He watched a spider spinning a web. The spider tried to reach across a rough place in the rock. He tried six times without success. On the seventh time he made it and went to spin his web. Bruce is said to have taken heart and to have gone on to defeat the English. Edison, the inventor of the light bulb, made hundreds of models that failed before he found the right way to make one. Abraham Lincoln, the famous American president, lost elections more times than he won them! He never gave up in the face of failure but kept trying and was eventually elected to Congress and then the presidency.

So what? First, always think about your failure. What caused it? Were conditions right? Were you in top from yourself? What can you change so things will go right next time?

Second, is the goal you’re trying to reach the right one? Try to do some thinking about what your real goals may be. Think about this question. “If I do succeed this time, where will it get me?’’ This may help you prevent failure in things you shouldn’t be doing anyway.

The third thing to bear in mind about failure is that it’s part of life. Learn to “live with yourself” even though you may have failed. Remember, “You can’t win them all.”

Life is filled with challenges. As we get older we come to realize that those challenges are the very things that shape us and make us who we are, it is the same with the challenges that come with friendship.
When we are faced with a challenge, we usually have two choices: we can try to beat if off, or we can decide that the thing presenting the challenges isn’t worth the trouble and call it quits. Although there are certainly times when calling it quits is the right thing to do, in most cases all that is needed is commitment and communication.
When we are committed to something, it means that no matter how painful or how uncomfortable something is, we will always choose to face it and work through instead of running away from it. Communication is making a space for discussion and talking about how you feel as opposed to just saying what the other person did wrong. If you can say to a friend, “I got my feelings hurt.” rather than “You hurt my feelings.” You are going to be able to solve the problem much faster.
In dealing with many challenges that friendship will bring to you, try to see them for what they are: small hurdles you need to jump or get through on your way through life. Nothing is so big that it is impossible to get over, and hurt only serves to make us stronger. It’s all part of growing up. It happens to everyone, and some day you will look back on all of this and say, “Hard as it was, it made me who I am today. And that’s a good thing.”

A grand memorial service was held Wednesday ，October 28, 2009. in central Hubei Province to honor three college students who died rescuing two children from the Yangtze River on October 24.Thousands of people holding chrysanthemum flowers went to the Jingzhou Memorial House to see off the teenagers, all 19-year-old students from the Yangtze University based in Jingzhou City.

The trio were Chen Jishi, He Dongxu and Fang Zhao. More than 10 students from the Yangtze University formed a ladder with one student holding another's arms to rescue the two boys in the river on the afternoon of October 24. One of the students lost his grip on his classmates and all of them were in danger. Several members of a winter swimming team nearby came to help. Chen Jishi, He Dongxu and Fang Zhao were swept away in the torrent, but others were saved. People touched by their selfless act had donated more than 500,000 yuan ($73,206) to their relatives as of Wednesday, Zhang said. Millions of Internet users made online comments on major news portals to show their grief.
