    The other day we drove from Washington DC to the small town of Hershey, Pennsylvania. When we arrived at the factory, we realized that this was much more than just a factory. The whole town is a chocolate-themed amusement park. The sweet smell of chocolate is on every street corner. There are even road signs that say things like, "Chocolate Ave(大道)" and "Cake St.".

    As we were walking towards the park, Jason, our tour guide, began telling us about this quiet little town. Hershey chocolate has been a brand in the world over the past hundred years. It is the biggest company that makes and sells chocolate in America," he started. "I guess you get the chocolate in China, don't you?"

    I nodded(点头) without thinking. How could I possibly not know those lovely little candies when I've been eating them all these years? 

Jason went on, "The factory first started on a small farm. It developed very fast. So they built this town for factory workers to live in. Then they built hotels, hospitals, stadiums(体育馆), theaters and even museums with the theme of chocolate. Isn't that cool?"

   "Yes, a hundred times yes!" I yelled (叫喊 )with delight.

Canada is famous for its winter lifestyle, for the season lasts half the year there. A great example of this is the Quebec Winter Carnival(嘉年华). Quebec is an old city with beautiful historic building, and many agree that winter is the best time to visit. The city comes alive in the snow, especially during the winter festival. People who visit the cold city can find tons of things to do that will make winter seem perfect.
The Carnival has a magical ice palace made with 9,000 tons of snow, a boat race on the St. Lawrence River, and two night parades(游行) with funny people and colorful cars. Other interesting things include a 122-meter ice slide, and a large football game. There is also an exciting dogsled race that runs through six kilometers of the city’s streets. With more than 20 teams in the game, the dogsled race is noisy, fun and full of great cheer. Even better, artists from around the world come to enter the snow sculpture(雕塑) competition. It is amazing how these artists can bring snow to life. The Quebec Winter Carnival has everything for the whole family and more. It is surely a great way to experience winter at its fullest.
Another famous winter festival is on the other side of the world in China. Known as the City of Ice, Harbin is the capital city of Heilongjiang Province, which is next to Siberia. In the winter, it is very cold, and temperatures there can drop to 30℃ below zero. Even so, the cold weather makes the city the right place for the Harbin International Ice and Snow Festival. The festival is held every year.

Minoru Yamasaki was a well-known American architect（建筑师）．He was born in 1912 in Seattle．Washington．His parents came from Japan．
Minoru went to college to study architecture．Every summer he worked in a fish factory to help pay for college．Often he worked from four o’clock in the morning until midnight．He slept in a room with 100 other men．Later in life．Yamasaki remembered these times and was always good to his workers．

Yamasaki worked for several companies．But his success began when he started his own company．In 1956，he won the Architect’s First Honor Award for his design of an airport in St．Louis．Missouri．He won two more awards over the next five years．In l962，he designed the World Trade Center in New York．It is very famous．
In l993，a bomb exploded（炸弹爆炸）in the World Trade Center．But the buildings did not fall down because they had a good design．
Yamasaki had strong opinions about his buildings．They had to be built his way．He refused to change the design of his buildings，even if he lost a job．
Minoru Yamasaki died in l986．He designed more than 300 buildings．People will enjoy the design and beauty of his buildings for a very longtime．
