　　The fourth Thursday of November is Thanksgiving Day．Usually family members and friends get together for a dinner．People sometimes drive a long way for a family get-together．Many people also take Friday off and make it a long weekend holiday．

　　Thanksgiving Day began in 1621．When the first English settlers(移民者)reached the New World, they did not have enough food．The American Indians helped the white men and taught them how to farm．After the harvest, they invited the Indians to a great party to thank them for their help．

　　Thanksgiving Day is an autumn holiday．It celebrates the good harvest．

　　Now people are busier than before, so they have no time to go home to stay with their family members often, but they want a family reunion very much, so Thanksgiving Day is even more important than Christmas or New Year's Eve to most Americans．
