Kid Power in Action!

Kids wanted a Chicken Soup book of their own, so here it is! Children Soup for the Kid’s Soul is for kids ages nine through thirteen, and it’s “all that!”

       Sometimes you feel like life is a complete blast（冲击）, from scoring the winning goal to hanging out with your friends. Yet other times, life is too difficult: You seem to see violence（暴力） everywhere you turn, more parents are getting divorced（离婚）, your best friend moves away, or you feel like you don’t fit in.

Now there is a place to find answers and encouragement and to help you realize that your dreams really can come true.

With funny stories about friendship and family, and serious stories about brave kids and difficult choices, this book will make you laugh, cry, think, and feel good about yourself.

Ever since the first Chicken Soup for the Soul was published in June 1993, we have been getting requests（请求） from kids all over the world asking for a Chicken Soup book just for them. So here it is, the first full-length Chicken Soup for the Kid’s Soul, written by kids and by grown-ups who haven’t forgotten what it’s like to be a kid.

Air pollution comes from factories, power stations and cars. Chemicals in the smoke from power stations cause a lot of damage（损害；毁坏）. They can travel hundreds of miles in the wind before falling to the ground in the rain. And this “chemical rain” gradually（逐渐地）destroys trees in the forests and kills fish in the lakes. In Germany, over 50% of the country’s trees had been damaged by the year 1986.

Time and time again there are serious accidents that pollute the air. In 1986 there was a serious accident at a nuclear power station in Russia. A cloud of radiation flew across the whole Europe. It is said that 125,000 people died in Russia as a result of illness caused by this accident.

In 1984 there was a serious accident at a factory in India and a cloud of dangerous gas covered the town of Bhopal. Over 2,500 people were killed that night, and hundreds of thousands of people were injured (受伤的). Many of the injured lost their sight.

On a cold November afternoon, my mother and I were walking back home from a pizza store. We had bought many things. We were dressed  26 , and I was feeling a little  27   as I was carrying our shopping, so I decided to throw something away. I was walking towards a dustbin（垃圾箱）  28   I noticed a poor man walking out of the restaurant in front of us. He headed over to the nearby dustbin and started looking through it.
