When you want to know more about someone, you often ask “What do you do?” This means “What is your job?” It is a common question, and we do not think there is anything strange about it.But it is possible that in the future we will ask a different question. We might ask, “What do you play?”

Computers and such things are making jobs more automatic and less demanding(依赖).Scientists tell us that one day very few people will have to work. Our society will be run by computers. And so we will all have a great deal of free time. And then games will be more important than jobs.

Today games and play are a very important part of life.Today people are divided into social classes(社会阶层)because of the type of work they do.Tomorrow they may be divided because of the types of games they play.

In the future, we may have “fun specialists,” just as we now have specialists in different types of work.It would be their job to show us how to get the most fun and enjoyment out of our spare time. And our society(社会)may be made up of sub-groups, such as surfers, skydivers, joggers, skiers, etc…Many of these subgroups may depend on technology(科技)to provide(提供)the equipment(设备)for their games.

Imagine having an idea, drawing it on paper, bringing it to a store and seeing it turned into an object. This is now possible with the help of 3D printers. Such machines were once used just by universities and big companies, but now, stores with 3D printing services are appearing around the United States.
Bryan Jaycox and his wife opened The Build Shop LLC in Los Angeles two years ago. The Jaycoxs offer 3D printing classes and services for anyone who is interested.
“I think 3D printing is going to be huge. It’s going to have a huge influence on society as a whole.” says KiChong Tran, one of the students in a recent class. He plans to open a 3D printing business in Cambodia (柬埔寨).
3D printing services are coming into American people’s life. The UPS Store is a nationwide retailer (零售商) that provides copying and other services. The UPS Store recently put 3D printers in three of its independently-owned stores. Burke Jones owns one of the stores in San Diego.
“The demand has been amazing. There has been a lot of interest from people. It’s been much more than I would have imagined.”
The UPS Store plans to add 3D printers in three more stores.
For $11, someone used a 3D printer to produce two small plastic parts as part of a knuckle (指节) for a hand. He works for the company which is testing finger prosthetics (假肢). He says the same–day or next-day printing services will speed up testing of parts and get them to patients faster.
Staples, an American store, is selling 3D printers on its website for as low as about $1,300. As with any technology - experts expect the printing speed to increase and the price to go down.
Bryan Jaycox requires $15 an hour to print an object. He also sets the price depending on the size of the object and up to $50 an hour for design and labor services.
Mr Jaycox thinks that within five years, 3D printing technology could become more user friendly. But KiChong Tran says even today’s technology can make a difference in a developing country like Cambodia.
“With 3D printing you can give them tools, so they are responsible more for their own development and they learn skills beyond just like learning English and becoming a tour guide or something like that. You can actually create things that give value to the world.”
He says it’s not just Cambodia but anywhere where there is a 3D printer, it can turn a good idea into reality.

If you watch the sky about an hour after the sun goes down, you may see some "movingstars". But
they're not real stars. They are man-made satellites. And the biggest of all is the International Space
Station ( ISS国际空间站).
From now until July is the best season to watch the ISS flying over the earth, and people can see it
just with their eyes. The ISS is the biggest man-made satellite because scientists want to live on it. They
think that the best way to learn more about space is to live there.
When the space station is finished, it will be like a city in space. People will stay and study there with
many of the things they have at home. Laboratories, living rooms and power stations are being built. The
ISS is the most ambitious(雄心勃勃) and expensive space program ever.
Billions of dollars are being spent on it every year.
Scientists hope that the ISS will be a stepping-stone (垫脚石) for future space exploration.
"The ISS will help us better understand the human body, explore space and study the earth. It can
help us make life on the earth better," said Kathryn Clark, an ISS scientist.
China is not an ISS country, but it has helped with some of the experiments. China sent some rice up
to the ISS to find out what space would do to it.
The ISS is not finished yet. More than 100 parts need to be put on. Scientists hope it will be finished
as soon as possible. After it's finished, more than 90% of the world's population will be able to see the

What do you think our life will be like in 2050? Some people are talking about it on QQ.

Blue Sky
I think there won’t be any TV channels (频道) in 2050. People will be able to choose (选择) a programme from a “menu” and a computer will send the programme to the television. In 2050, we will be able to feel the things we see on TV with our hands.

Julia
In 2050, there won’t be enough water. Some places will be drier and people will not be able to have enough food. There may be serious water shortage (缺乏).

Ashley
Don’t be so pessimistic about that, Julia! People will solve this problem. And I think there will be less water pollution. Water will be much cleaner than it is now.

I quite agree with Ashley. And I believe in 2050 doctors will be able to help blind and deaf people see and hear again. All people will be healthy because they will take a kind of special medicine when they are born.
