     Every four years, the world turns its attention to the soccer World Cup. The most successful teams in the tournament have traditionally come from South America and Europe. However, over the years, there have been a number of surprising results.

      In a famous match in 1950, the USA came up against England, one of the favorites to win the tournament. Many of the American players were amateurs from college teams.       In the final game, which was watched by one billion people around the world, Brazil won 2-0 over Germany. Brazil set a World Cup record by becoming the first team to win seven games in a row. Also, Brazil's most talented player, Ronaldo, scored eight goals in one tournament--more than any other player since 1970.
