题目列表(包括答案和解析)

When I was a child, my mother often told me, “Don’t run around, or bad uncles will grad(抓住) you. And you know what? You will never see Mum and Dad again.”

“Why, Mama? Why would these uncles grab me?” I would ask. “The city is a dangerous place and we don’t trust any strangers, ”she would reply.

Well, that might answer the question of why my second brother never picks up calls from an unknown person either on his mobile or his home phone. It seems that he doesn’t care if he misses an important call. because he thinks that all unknown calls are from bad persons.

So, have we given too much protection to our young kids? Perhaps it is so. But the adults’ thoughts are indeed easy to understand. The kids meet swindlers sometimes as we adults tell them. Also they get some news about cheating(欺骗) in newspapers or on TV every day. That makes the kids believe that they just cannot trust strangers.

Let’s look at an example from everyday life. Say, if someone carrying a wooden stick(棍子) comes nearer to you, will you try to run away at once even before he or she starts talking to you? Will you guess this person’s intentions(意图) and think that he or she wants to rob(抢劫) you of something? Think of the answer for yourself.

Of course, the kids should look after themselves, but overprotection can sometimes stop them from making new friends. Sometimes it’s not good for their new friendships.

Trust is like a mirror. When we offer trust to people, they might just show you trust in return.

1 What do “swindlers” probably do?

  A. They cheat other people.

  B. They often call other people.

  C. They rob people of something.

  D. They teach children to protect themselves.

2 Which of the following is NOT the reason why children don’t trust strangers?

  A. Their parents tell them not to trust strangers.

  B. They get to know some news about cheating in newspapers or on TV every day.

  C. Strangers always have bad intentions.

  D. They sometimes have experiences of being cheated.

3 What does the writer want to tell us?

  A. Children should always follow their parents’ advice.

  B. We should never talk to strangers.

  C. Parents should learn to protect their children.

  D. People should try to trust each other.

If you knew you had only three years left to live, how would you use your time? It’s a hard question and few of us would even like to think about it. But 18-year-old Huang Ge has to answer this question and he says, “I want to thank the people who have helped me.”
At the age of one, Huang’s mother left the family. Six years later, he was badly ill. He has been using a wheelchair(轮椅)since 9 years old. Doctors said he would only live to be 18.
After Huang’s story went on TV, hundreds of Chinese sent money to help him. The boy was so moved (感动)that he decided to thank everyone of them. But it is not an easy job, because Huang was too sick even to drive a mosquito(蚊子) away from his leg. Huang has to be tied(系)to his wheelchair to stop him from falling out. And the family can only afford a three-wheeled motorcycle(三轮摩托). Since 2003, the father and son have traveled 14,000 kilometers to 10 provinces, and thanked more than 30 helpers.
“I am moved by the story of this boy. We need the courage(勇气) to face death, and we should also feel the thankfulness for those who help us,” reads an online article on CCTV,com.

Most middle school students find it boring to learn English. But students in Yat Sen middle school in New York, US, don’t think so. Why? Because they are in the school of One Program, which asks students to work on their own or in small groups on computers to have math lessons.
“The program gives the students a new learning style. No traditional classroom can compare with it. We give each lesson according to the students’ interest and their strong and weak points,” said JoelⅠ. Klein, the school’s head teacher, “we’re looking for a new way that interest students children.”
Students enjoy these math lessons, especially lessons with video games. They must find out the answers to math problems to get through the game. One such game is Dimension M. As students move through mazes(迷宫) with their keyboards, some questions come up.
Caleb Deng had to answer the question: What is 5+ (6×3)? He calculated on paper quickly because there was just a minute left to play.
“ I was right,” said Deng, 14, as he ended the game with a high score (高分). “this really makes math lessons more exciting, since we are fighting to learn better.”
