  Of all the students of Grade Four, Bill is the tallest.He is thirteen, and of course, he is the oldest, too.But he is the worst and the most foolish(愚蠢的).He can’t answer the easiest(最容易)questions in class.And he never passes the exam.

  But the boy is the strongest(最强壮的)in his school.Even the boys in higher grades are afraid(害怕)of him.So he leaves home with an empty(空的)bag.When he gets to school, his bag is full(满的)of fruit and cakes.Sometimes he brings some back home.His mother, Mrs.King ,is always happy.When she sees them, she praises(表扬)her son, for she can save(节省)some money.

     One day,  after school Bill walked past the shop on the street comer as usual.  He stopped to look
 at the front row of shoes,  and he felt sorry for himself.  He really wanted to have a new pair for his

Was It Sam?

  Early on Saturday morning Ann brought her nephew (侄子) Sam to her friends, Bill and Kate, and asked them to look after him for the day. Sam, an independent boy of six years old, had black hair and was wearing a pair of jeans(工装裤) and a bright yellow shirt.

  At eleven o'clock Bill took Sam into town. Sam walked along behind Bill, looking at the windows of all the shops they passed. After lunch they went to the park and walked about. The whole place was very crowded, Bill stopped to buy some chocolate. When he turned round to give some to Sam, the boy wasn't there. Bill ran round calling Sam, but he couldn't find him.   A poor boy had to sell things door by door for money to pay his schooling.One day he found that he only had one dime(一角钱)left, and he was hungry so he decided to beg(乞讨)for a meal at the next house.
