题目列表(包括答案和解析)

Joan worked in a hospital as a nurse. One evening there was a big dance at the hospital. Most of the doctors and nurses would be there, but of course somebody couldn't because they had to look after the sick children, and Joan was not the lucky one. She liked dancing very much, so when she had to work that evening, she felt very sorry for herself.

She went to one little boy, Dicky. He was only eleven years old, but he was good at talking. Poor Dicky had a very serious illness, and now he could only move his hands, but he was always happy and always thinking about other people.

Dicky knew that Joan loved dancing, so when she came to say good-night to him. He said to her, “Pm very sorry that you can't go to the dance because of us. But we're going to have a party for you. And you can find a cake in the drawer. I saved it from my supper today. There is also a dollar there. You can buy something to drink with that. And I'll get up and dance with you if I can.” He added.

Suddenly the hospital dance wasn't important to Joan at all.
