题目列表(包括答案和解析)

You will have a lot of reading to do in this grade this year. You can do more of it in less time if you learn to read rapidly.

Perhaps you have been told about some habits(习惯)which keep a person from reading fast and have been strongly asked to break those habits which you might have.

Do you still have any of these bad habits? Check yourself by answeringyesornoto these questions.

  (1) Do you move your lips(嘴唇)when reading silently?

  (2) Do you point to words with your finger as you read?

  (3) Do you move your head from side to side as you read?

  (4) Do you read one word at a time?

If you answeryesto any of these questions, start at once to break the habit. If you move your lips, hold your fingers over them, or hold a piece of paper between your lips while you are reading. Then if your lips move, your will know it and can stop them.

If you point to words, hold the two sides of your book, one side with your left hand, the other side with your right hand. Then you won't have a free finger to use in pointing while reading. If you move your head, place your chin(下巴)in one hand and hold your head still(静止不动的).

If you read no more than one or two or three words at a time, you need to work very hard in learning to take in(吸收)more words at each glance(一瞥)as your eyes travel across the lines of words.

Even if you do rather fast now, you can learn to read even faster. As you probably have been told, the secret of fast reading is to take in whole groups of words as each glance. Read in through groups and force(迫使)your eyes along the lines of words as fast as you can to make them go. Anyone who practices doing these things will be able to read faster.

Throughout our lives, we will have to make many decisions. Some will be small and unimportant, but others, such as where to go to school, which job to choose to do, and whether or not to buy a house, will be very important. It is this type of decision that we must be very careful about making. I think a person should never make such an important decision alone.

One reason for my opinion is that I believe "two heads are better than one". When we have an important decision to make we can benetit from the advice and experience of others . Another reason for not making big decisions alone is that often these decisions do not affect only us. If someone else is going to be affected by the decision, for example , your father or mother, that person should be able to speak out his opinion and take part in the decision- making process.

These are only two of the reasons for never making an important decision alone, but I feel that they are the most important ones. By doing this, we not only show others our respect but also benefit from their knowledge and experience. In this way, we are to make better decision.

(    )37. Which of the following isn’t an important decision according to the passage?

A. Where to go to college                    B. Whether or not ride a bike to school

C. Which job to choose                       D.Whether or not buy a car

(    )38. A person should never make a very important decision alone. Which isn’t the reason for it?

A.You can show your knowledge to others.

B. Maybe someone else will be affected by the decision.

C. You can benefit from the advice of others.

D.You can show your respect to others.

(    )39. “Two heads are better than one.” means         .

A. Everyone has his own opinion         B. Team-work is better than working alone sometimes

C. The others are cleverer than you      D. You’re cleverer than the others

(    )40. What can we benefit from others’ advice?

A.We can learn from their knowledge.  B. Their experience may be helpful to us.

C. We can make better decision.                 D. All the above.

Children arc children after all, and most of them speak their mind. When they are just toddlers(幼儿), they are all lovely and lively. And it's so interesting to watch them speak like a grown-up. But as they grow, these same kids seem annoying and ill-mannered if they try to be a grown-up.
Conflicts(矛盾)go between parents and children. It's hard to tell who are right and who are wrong. A child of 7-8 always finds some reasons to have a conflict with it's parents. Whether it is about some toy, studies, a party or a company, there is always a difference between them. And it becomes worse when they answer you back. Scientists tell us that children should be treated with care. Yes, sure they should respect their elders.
We are partly responsible(有责任的)for this. At an early age we encourage children to behave like adults, just because we find it funny. The kids on the other hand consider this same behavior as normal and get used to it. And when it is not funny for us any more, we expect them to stop it, but by then it is already too late. Only when they reach a certain maturity will the children realize that answering back and being rude are not acceptable(可接受的).Until then, most of the time their behavior is difficult to change, unless by force(暴力).And use of force is against the every good idea, as it weakens the child's confidence.
So it is one thing to bring a child into this world but quite another to make them into well mannered citizens. The best way is to be a good example ourselves, as our children are the mirrors of us adults.
