China’s first astronaut Yang Liwei walked   (1)   the re – entry capsule（返回舱）of the Shenzhou V spaceship, smiling and waving to the recovery team（搜救队）on the grasslands of the Gobi Desert, Inner Mongolia.

Yang had   (2)   21 hours in outer space, traveling more than 600,000 kilometres in the earth’s orbit（轨道）before Shenzhou V brought him   (3)   at 6:07 am Beijing time on October 16. Yang said he   (4)   excellent after the 21 – hour journey, the first by a Chinese astronaut.

At about 6:00 am, guided by she Beijing Aerospace Command and Control Centre（北京卫星指挥控制中心）, the return capsule of Shenzhou V entered China’s air space. Several minutes  (5)  the capsule landed  (6)   in Northwest China’s Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, and Yang reported “conditions good”.

Five rescue helicopters raced towards the capsule   (7)  found it at 6:35 am. They said Yang felt good and the conditions within the capsule also seemed normal.

At 6:51 am, Yang Liwei came out of the capsule by   (8) , waving and smiling to rescuers and reporters.

 (9)   Yang came out of the capsule, physicians immediately conducted a physical checkup（健康检查），which found him in good condition. At around 7:40 am, Yang was ferried（运送）by a military helicopter to Beijing, where a gala（欢乐）celebration party  (10)  .
