    　　Mr. and Mrs. Brown were going abroad(出国) for their holiday. They had a dog called Blackie which they were very fond of, but they could not take him abroad with them, so they looked for a good place to leave him while they were away, and at last found a place which looked after dogs very well while their owners were away. They took Blackie there just before they left for their holiday, and sadly said goodbye to him.

    　　At the end of their holiday, they got back to England very late at night, and as they thought that the place where Blackie was staying might be closed at that late hour, they decided to wait until the next morning before going to get him.

    　　So the next morning Mr. Brown got into his car and drove off happily to collect Blackie.

    Jack is my new classmate. He lived in a small village for fifteen years. His father, Mr. Brown, was a rich farmer. Last year his father opened a shop in our town and last month he bought a big house and Jack began to study in our class. But Jack had few friends here. At first he often played by himself.          Mr Brown looks worried these days. Something is wrong with John’s
    head. He took the little boy to a hospital. The doctor looked over him and
    said that the boy needed an operationor he would die. John’s mother is
    often ill and she can’t work. John’s two sisters are at school. Sometimes
    his family has little food to eat and Mr Brown has no money to pay for the
    operation. 
          “Why not go and borrow some money from Mr Green?” said Mrs
    Brown. “You helped him before.”
         Mr Green has much money. But he never helps anybody. So he has few
    friends in the village and nobody likes him. Mr Brown was afraid that his
    friends would know about it. So he went to the man’s house at night.
