born in Brussels, on June 25th, 1928. His real name was Pierre Culliford. At
first, he almost became a dentist’s assistant. Luckily, he got a job in a
cartoon studio. There he met and worked with some of Europe’s most famous comic
book artists such as Franquin and Morris. Unfortunately the studio closed down
and Peyo decided to become a full-time comic artist. He found himself a pen
name from his childhood nickname ‘Pe- yot’.

stories based in the Middle Ages. He created the character Johan and drew some Johan strips (漫画) for the Belgian daily newspaper ‘Le Soir’ and then for ‘Spirou’ magazine. Johan soon became a huge success and one of the magazine’s main characters.

At the end of the evening, Everson was more interested than ever in Philo. And he was also interested in Philo’s idea for television.
After talking with Philo , Everson returned to San Francisco. There he brought together a number of important businessmen . Philo told them about his invention. We know that many animals do not stay in one place. Birds, fish and other animals move from one place to another at a certain time. They move for different reasons: most of them move to find food more easily, but others move to get away from places that are too crowded.
When cold weather comes, many birds move to warmer places to find food. Some fishes give birth in warm water and move to cold water to feed. The most famous migration(迁移)is probably the migration of the fish which is called “salmon”.This fish is born in fresh water but it travels many miles to salt water. There it spends its life. When it is old,it returns to its birthplace in fresh water. Then it gives birth and dies. In northern Europe, there is a kind of mouse. They leave their mountain homes when they bccome too crowded. They move down to the low land. Sometimes they move all the way the seadide, and many of them are killed when they fall into the sea.
Recently, scientists have studied the migration of kind of lobster(龙虾).Every year, when the season of the bad weather arrives, the lobsters get into a long line and start to walk across the floor of the ocean. Nobody knows why they do this, and nobody know where they go.

There are many unusual hotels around the world. In Greenland, there is a hotel made out of ice, open between April and December every year. In Turkey, there is a cave hotel with a television, furniture, and a bathroom in each room. And in Bolivia, there is the Salt Palace Hotel.
Thousands of years ago, the area around the Salt Palace Hotel was a large lake. But over time, all the water disappeared. Today, the area has only two small lakes and two salt deserts.
The larger of the two deserts, the Uyuni salt desert, is 12,000 square kilometers. During the day, the desert is bright white because of the salt. There are no roads across the Uyuni desert, so local people must show guests the way to the hotel.
In the early 1990s, a man named Juan Quesada built the hotel. He cut big blocks (块) of salt from the desert and used the blocks to build it. Everything in the hotel is made out of salt: the walls, the roof, the tables, the chairs, the beds, and the hotel’s bar.
The sun heats the walls and roof during the day. At night the desert is very cold, but the rooms stay warm. The hotel has 12 rooms. A single room costs$40 a night, and a double room costs$60.
A sign on the hotel’s wall tells guests, “ Please don’t lick the walls-it doesn’t taste good!”
