Hand-foot-mouth disease (HFMD), characterized by fever, sores in the mouth and
rashes (疹) on hands and feet, is not a new infection (传染) and is common among
(在……之间) infants (幼儿) and children. It is caused by up to 20 types of virus
(病毒) but has similar symptoms (症状). But it usually does not lead to death. Many
kindergartens (幼儿园) have to be shut because of it.
