        Everyone needs friends. We all like to feel close to someone. It is nice to have a friend to talk, laugh, and do
    things with. Surely, there are times when we need to be alone. We don't always want people around. But we
    would feel lonely if we never had a friend.

    be that they are happier. Being happy helps you stay well. Or it could be just knowing that someone cares. If
    someone cares about you, you will take better care of yourself.

    When I was 14, I left school with learning disabilities and decided to surf the biggest waves in the world, first in California and then in Hawaii. One morning, I met an old man, a bum（流浪汉）, on the street comer. He asked me if I was running away from home. I told him, “Not exactly, sir. ”

         My full name is Tomasz P. Szynalski, but you can call me Tom. I live in Poland. I started learning
    English when I was six years old in primary school. I was always one of the best students in class. But
    my English was still very bad.
         In 1993, I went to high school. It is the best high school in my city. A lot of classes are taught in
