Courage is a big, tough word that no child should have to know, but too often they do. When they do, courage takes on a whole new meaning.

　　 Alex was diagnosed(诊断) with cancer on September 13, 2008. On that dark night, his mother was 36 after hearing the diagnosis, but she kept up her 37 , went into Alex’s room in the hospital and lay down beside him.

　　 "When I told Alex, he 38 over and patted my arm and said, 'It will be OK, Mama, '" said Kim Morgan. "His 39 was for me, not for himself. But that’s Alex. He is the most 40 little boy that I have ever known. He always 41 others before himself. He is amazing, and he has so much 42 ."

　　 In fact, five years ago, Alex’s father, Ron Morgan was also 43 with cancer. He 44 the disease and the treatments well, but he also kept his 45 from others.

　　 "We really didn’t want people to 46 ,"Kim Morgan said. "But by 47 Ron’s illness from others, we kept blessings from them 48 people really want to help. But when Alex was diagnosed, we got on the telephone and started 49 people. By church time on Sunday morning, there was 50 a church in Pike County that didn’t have Alex on its prayer list. What kind of person becomes an addict? Someone 1 , with a lot of friends; or someone who is 2 from the rest, with only a few friends, or none at all? The 3 I am trying to make is that anyone can become an addict.

The only way that I 4 this out was by becoming an addict myself. I used to be a guy who was 5 in the popular crowd. Right before high school began, I started being 6 by most of my friends. I had never lived with the 7 that I had no friends, so I did almost anything to 8 the two good friends I still had. One of the things I did was 9 drugs for the first time. This was a big 10 from the way I lived when I was younger. I was a(n) 11 , and the last thing I thought I would get into was drugs. Drugs 12 me from being the best sports player I could be.

I 13 to smoke drugs after I entered high school because that was what my new "cool" friends were 14 . The next three years were filled with many 15 , I was arrested twice, and lost my license for two years. This made me sad and 16 .

I realized I could not live this way; I must stop the 17 of using drugs.

About ten years ago, I was 36___ as an intern(实习医生) at my university’s Museum of Natural History. 　37　 , while working at the cash register in the gift shop, I saw an elderly 　38　 come in with a little girl in a wheelchair.

As I looked closer at this girl, I saw that she was kind of 　39　 on her chair. I then realized she had no arms or legs, just a head, neck and torso(躯干). She was 　 40 a little white dress with red dots.
