完形填空

　　It was the afternoon before Christmas．As the newest doctor in our office, I had to work．Only a dozen red roses 　　1　　 my day, which was sent to me by a fellow I was 　　2　　．

　　At the end of the appointment, I 　　14　　 him a Merry Christmas－a difficult thing to say to a man headed back to 　　15　　．He smiled and thanked me．He also said he felt 　　16　　 that he hadn’t been able to get his wife anything for Christmas．　　17　　 hearing this, I was inspired with a wonderful idea．

　　I’ll 　　18　　 forget the look on both their faces as the prisoner gave his wife the beautiful roses．I’m not sure who 　　19　　 the most joy－the husband in giving, the wife in receiving, or 　　20　　 in having the opportunity to share in this special moment．
