题目列表(包括答案和解析)
A famous study was done in a school by a professor from a university. At the start of the school year, the teachers were given the names of five children. They were told that these five were the most excellent students in the class. But the fact was that these students were only average, and they were not the best students at all. Well, guess what? At the end of the year, all the five average students scored among the highest in the class.
What made these average students change so much to become top students? The only difference was the change in their teachers’ attitude. Because the teachers believed that these five kids were the top students, they expected more from them. And so these five average students began to believe and expect more from themselves. So they worked harder to do as well as they could.
Do you know why? If you expect the best from people, they’ll usually want to give you their best. A great leader said, “Treat a person just how he appears to be on the outside, and you’ll make him even worse. But treat a person like he’s already a success, and you’ll help make him the best he can be.”
Like the true story of 7-year-old Johnny, his teacher got so angry with him that one day she said,“Johnny, you’re the naughtiest boy in this class. I’m sure you’ll never change.” The next year Johnny had a new teacher. And on the first day of class, she met with Johnny after school and said,“Johnny, I’ve heard a lot about you! But do you know that I don’t believe a word of it.” And every day after that, this new teacher treated Johnny as if he was one of the smartest students even when Johnny did naughty things. Later on, Johnny became a school leader. Because that’s the power of our belief and attitude toward children.

| If you ask a teacher in China what makes a good student,he or she would probably tell you that a good student is someone who gets high marks in exams. It is true that most teachers share this opinion. 1 She says that as an educator, she feels sorry about what her students have to do every day. She hates to see her students study day and night for the endless exams. These teenagers have no time to relax or hang around with their f'riends. They shouldn't be tumed into bookworms. 2 Shen Hong thinks a good student should be like this: A good student is honest and kind to others. 3 lf hedoessomething wrong,he says sorry immediately, Apart from this,a good student is always ready to help his friends when they are in trouble. A good student is one who always tries his best in studies. He makes full use of his time to learn both in and out of class. Hard work comes first no matter how clever he is. 4 He often plays ball games,or goes camping with his friends. In a word,he develops in an all-round way. |

How much pocket money do you get from your parents every month? Maybe 200 yuan? But for Li Beibei, 30 yuan each month is enough. The only thing she buys is lunch—1.5 yuan each day. “Meat is too expensive for me,” said Li.
Li, 14, is a Junior 1 student at Beijing’s Xingzhi Experimental School. Her parents are migrant workers(外来务工人员). They came to Beijing from a village in Luohe, He’nan two years ago. Her father now works as a cleaner and gets 500 yuan every month. Her mother has no job.
Li Beibei has 460 friends at Xingzhi. Every day, Li gets up at 5:30 am and rides her bike for 20 minutes to get to school. Like many teens, Li has a lot of homework—usually at least one hour every day. But that is not all her work. During the weekdays she helps her mum cook. On weekends, she helps wash clothes. “I could cook when I was eight. Dad said sometimes I cook better than Mum!”
Li said she wanted to be a doctor. “I watch TV and find out there are many people with AIDS in He’nan. Some are kids. They need help,” said Li.
But she is afraid to leave school. “I hope I will always be in school,” said Li. “Dad works hard to get money. I promise him I will study hard to be a good student and a good doctor in the future.”
