题目列表(包括答案和解析)
Have you ever thought about some deep questions in your life such as TO BE OR NOT TO BE? In today’s English class, we had a hot discussion about "What would you do if you had only one day left? "It seemed that different people had different opinions on this. In my class, most students said that they would like to be home and help parents with the housework, they wanted to show their parents the love ,because they seldom showed love to their parents before. Wang Yizhou said,“If I had only one day left, I would want to do something different such as helping others,”which inspired(激励)a lot of students and teachers. He said we should do something meaningful such as volunteering to the world. Only a few students said they would do nothing but have the last rest at home. They had too much work to do every day and they needed a rest.
We had different ideas, but we all knew that we must cherish(珍爱)our life. At last, the teacher summed up(总结)our discussion: We should spend our limited(有限的)life doing something meaningful and try to make the best use of our time. Never wait for the last day to come.

Have you ever been afraid to talk back when you were treated unfairly? Have you ever bought something just because the shop assistant asked you to buy it? Have you ever been afraid to ask someone for an appointment?
Many people are afraid to assert themselves (坚持主见). Dr. Alberti, author of Stand Up and Speak Out, thinks it’s because their self-respect (自尊心) is low. “Our whole system (体制) of society is designed to make people less confident,” says Alberti. “There’s always a person who knows more and better around us—a parent, a teacher or a boss. These people often chip away at (削弱) our self-image (自我形象).”
To help people assert themselves, Alberti and other scientists offer AT courses where people learn that they have a right (权利) to do so. They learn to speak out and feel good doing so. They learn to be more active without hurting other people.
In one way, learning to speak out is to get over fear. A group taking an AT course will help the shy person lose fear. And AT even encourages the need to share (分享) so that even the shy person wants to tell others how he feels.
Whether you speak out depends on your self-image. If someone you face is more “important” than you, you may be afraid to do so. But, why should you? AT says once you can learn to speak out, you will gradually feel good about yourself.

I remember my maths teacher Mr Young very well. He stood out because the kids made fun of him. He was missing one of his fingers. In school Maths was my worst subject. I don’t think there was ever a day I went to school that I was not afraid.
One day, I was told that if I got one more E on my report card, my parents would be called to school.
I tried really hard for weeks to learn Maths. I just couldn’t understand how to make different parts of numbers into whole things; my brain just couldn’t do it, no matter how hard I tried.
The day before report cards were to come out, I knew that Mr Young would give me an E, just like he always did.
After class ended, I went to Mr Young and told him what would happen if I got another E. He told me there was nothing he could do; it would be unfair to the other kids if he gave me a better grade than I had actually earned.
I looked at the teacher and said, “Mr Young, you know how all the kids make fun of you because you’re missing your finger?”
He looked at me, and said nothing.
“They shouldn’t do that to you because you can’t help not having a finger, Mr Young. Just like I can’t help not being able to learn numbers and matters like that,” I said.
Again, he said nothing as he looked down at his desk, and began grading papers.
The next day, when I got my report card, I looked at my grades: Geography: B- , English: D- , History: C- , Gym: B+ , Art: C, Maths: D- .
That Math grade was the most favorite one I ever received in my whole life. I knew that someone in the world finally understood what it was like for me to be missing a finger inside my head.
