题目列表(包括答案和解析)

Fashions in child-care (儿童保育), as all parents know, come and go. Bottle-feeding or mother's milk?  Full-time parental care or a child-minder(儿童保育员)? These problems always trouble the parents a lot. And now, there is a book called Childsplay dealing with the problem of child-care.
The author of Childsplay, Lucy Jackson, believes most school children do some sports at school. And many adults take regular exercise in their free time.
Babies, though, spend most of the time in front of the television or sitting in a push-chair (折叠式婴儿车) or high chair. If the world were a safer place, every child would run around freely, but that is simply not possible. As a result, they become lazy, overweight and unfit.
Ms. Jackson is worried that if small children take no regular exercise, bad habits will continue into adulthood (成人期 ). She suggests that parents should begin exercising with very small babies, moving their legs and arms gently in time to music. As children grow, they should follow and exercise program using soft balls, household furniture and play equipment.
Many experts in child development do not agree. They feel that children will learn to run and jump as they play naturally; they do not need planned exercise. They would not be overweight if they ate healthier food. An increasing number of parents, though, are taking their children to exercise classes. The kids jump around with their mothers to disco music. They seem to enjoy themselves, but it is not at all clear if the classes have any effect on their future development.
【小题1】According to the passage, the parents do not worry about how to care about their children.
【小题2】Childsplay is a book about how to take care of the children.
【小题3】Ms. Jackson doesn't believe babies take enough exercise.
【小题4】Ms. Jackson encourages parents to take exercise with their babies.
【小题5】Though we don’t know if the exercise will have any effect on children future development, some mothers have already taken their children to exercise.

Dear Dr Jackson,

My parents are never happy with me. They are always criticizing my clothes, my hair and the music I listen to. They hate my friends’ looks and they keep complaining when I go with them. I’m not allowed to stay out as late as my friends do, so I can’t have any fun. My parents only seem to care about my school grades. Although I love them, sometimes I feel we live in different worlds. If they love me, can’t they understand me? How can I make them understand me?

Angel

Dear Angel,

Your problem is common to both teenagers and parents. Don’t worry, because all this is natural. You see, your parents have grown up at a different time and they have different experiences. So, they think some things are strange, but you find the same things are all right. For example, the music you like may sound like noise to them. Your parents love you, so they feel they must stop you from doing whatever they find strange. On the other hand, you don’t want to be different from other teenagers, so you feel that your parents restrict you.

I think you should talk about this problem with your parents. Try to explain to them what you want and make them know they can believe you. And then they’ll find you are a responsible person and they will give you more freedom.

Some people think only school children do not agree with their parents, in fact, it is not true.

Communication is a big problem for parents and children of all ages. If it’s hard for you to communicate well with your parents, don’t worry about it. Here are some advice for you to bridge the generation gap.

Don’t argue with your parents. Don’t get to your parents when you are angry. On one hand, your parents probably won’t consider your ideas if you are shouting at them. On the other hand, you can’t express yourself well if you are angry. Please go someplace to cool off, try to make sure you understand why you are unhappy. Then, think about what you want to say to your parents. If you don’t think you can speak to them at the moment, writing a letter may be a good way to help you.

Try to reach an agreement. Perhaps you and your parents disagree on something. You can keep your disagreement and try your best to accept each other. For example, Michael wanted to buy a motorcycle, but his mother didn’t agree with him, they argued over it. Finally, they came to an agreement. Michael bought the motorcycle, but he could only drive it on certain days.

Of course, your parents might refuse to agree on something. In these situations, it is especially important to show your love and respect to them. Showing respect will keep your relationship strong.

Talk about your values. Because of the generation gap, the values of your parents are probably different from those of your own. Tell your parents what you care about, and why. Understanding your values might help them see your purposes in life.

A good relationship with your parents can make you a better and happier person. It is worth having a try! Communication is an art!
